Rant seeking advice:

I paid my internet bill about a week ago and they just sent me one for this month which handily includes last month's charges, despite my having already paid them. Being the dumb sort, I did not keep the receipt from Woori. How can I convince KT's non-English speaking populance that I already paid them?

Sometimes it takes a few days for a company to receive payment from the bank. It's not unusal in Korea or anywhere, really.

Try calling KT again and see if they received payment. If this doesn't work, go to Woori bank with this month's bill and your ID. Explain to them that you lost the receipt from last month. They should have some record of the payment. Not a big deal.

In addition, if you paid a little late, and they didn't recieve your payment before they sent out the new month's bills, they will credit NEXT month's bill with the extra payment you make this month.

Did that make sense?

Pay late one month
next month, 2 bills
pay both bills
next month no bill

Oh, and taking your "already paid/stamped" bill to the post office, or wherever, won't matter at all. They will still tell you to pay the full (albiet 2-months worth) payment, as they won't separate the bills.

yeah, don't freak out. you just paid a week ago, give it time. get a bank statement from an atm or something and keep it in a safe place. then just pay the new charges on the bill. (and pay them sooner this time). next month your bill should be clean and if its not you have proof. how to show this proof to the non english speaking populace, i don't know.

i remember paying my power bill in the states. it always had 2 months of charges listed on it because i was always a little late.

edit-- oh maybe i should have read the previous reply more carefully. maybe you can't just pay the new charges. that sucks.

happened to me once. If you bring the bill into the KT office directly, they'll have a record of the payment online, and you'll only have to pay this month's bill.

KT regularly puts made-up long-distance charges on my cell phone bill. I'm serious. I don't need to call long-distance because I have a free plan set up at work (and I never call long-distance from my cell phone anyway), but every other month it seems my wife is asking "did you call Canada and talk for 3 hours!?"

Funny thing is, all the wife has to do is call 'em up and it's resolved in less than a minute.

I'm not saying that KT is trying to fleece foreigners but, well...
