Holy shit, that's brutal. I'm sure the kids will grow out of this phase soon though and will end up growing into well rounded adults.

That looks recent, its all about the "Dok do is our land" nonsense.

At the same time, Japan could stop trying to take it back. But I don't know all the details.

Shocking.

When I was in Osaka a few months back there was a children's art exhibit outside of Osaka castle. I was astounded at how many pictures depicted Japan and Korea shaking hands and/or hugging with an overall message of peace and brotherhood. I really wish i had taken pictures.

Even from talking to people at my hotel and at local bars, the attitude of people was FAR different than here. Whenever I told someone I was living in Korea I was met with a big smile and a "Oh wonderful! Anyunghasayo."

When i came back to work I mentioned to my boss how great my trip was. He got all tomato faced and became frothing mad. He told a few co-workers about how i felt and, not a word of a lie, they organized a type of intervention in the coffee room. When i walked in there to get my morning coffee the next day, they let loose with a barrage of anti-Japanese rhetoric the likes of which would make David Duke blush.

Twisted stuff

I bet half the kids in my class at that age would've done similar things about Argentina or Germany, or whoever the current bad taste of the month was. But the teacher would have made us stop and do something less negative- rather than exhibit them in a public place.

I think it's horrible.

Wow.

Try and imagine US, Canada...whatever, posting pictures of that nature up. Japan's president as a DOG!!?? Good Lord.

Is Korea less accountable because they are a bunch of excitable little girls? I wish it was an important enough nation for all this nonsense to warrant a nice big editorial on the New York Times. What a bunch of dorks.

I am not surprised by the pictures, honestly...but I am a little apalled.

Oh please. These are kids, and kids tend to be overly aggressive in their expression.

I thought some of those were hilarious, like the Japan roll of toilet paper. And lets not forget the positives here. The more Koreans focus on bad blood with Japan, the less energy they have to focus their hatred on America.

No this wouldn't be acceptable in Western parts of the world, but hey, you knew Koreans were screwy, right?

Uhmmm, No.

Its the fact this hatred is taught at home, reinforced at school and then legitimatized by Korea as a whole by allowing this crap to be prominantly displayed in public.

It's sick

While the argument could be made (unsuccessfully) that these pics just came from some overzealous kids showing their patriotism, the scary thing is how they've obviously been sanctioned (and more likely greatly encouraged) by their teachers and the subway company. It's shameful.
