I've been offered a job with SMOE but won't know where I've been assigned until after a few weeks after I've signed my contract. They said I could request specific areas, but no guarantees. Has anyone ever worked for the SMOE before? If so, how did you feel about it?

The SMOE is a new programme so probably won't find anyone with any experience.

However there are similar programmes run in Korea EPIK and GEPIK and you can do a search here and find out some comments.

Also in the end the public school job will be made or broken by these factors.

1. Co-teacher/minder. If you have a bad relationship with this person you will have a year of hell.

2. Vice-principal. If you have a bad relationship with this person then things will be more difficult

3. Principal. If you have a bad relationship with this person then things will be more difficult.

SMOE as in Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education?

If so, I worked for them back in 2001 before they moved to the new facility.

As far teaching went it was a good job, but the mandatory being at work even when there was no work got pretty old pretty fast.
