While shopping for aspirin at E-Mart I was going up the escalator. In front of me was a mother with one of those backpack infant carriers. She was holding a baby gear bag. It read 'Sing, Sing, Death, Baby' and had a picture of a baby in soft colors. I wanted to tell her what those words meant, but decided not to. She might mis-interpret my poor Korean language abilities and think that I had given her a death threat.
Sing for me or I'll kill your baby. |

Do you suppose it matters? The only word she might not have known is "death"...
Anyway, English is a decoration in Asia. |

That's crazy. Who would make a bag like that? I wonder what they were trying to say. |

"sing sing death house" is a semipopular album by the distillers. Perhaps someone saw the CD and thoughtmit sounded cool |

I'm not 100% sure on the last word 'house' but it was something like that.
I'm convinced that a foreigner is behind this. If you were Korean, and a designer of baby bags, wouldn't you look up the words first. And upon seeing 'death,' wouldn't you think of it as inappropriate.
But a foreigner could just write it down and it would be taken as some popular western adage. |

It's funny how they don't have 4th floors because it sounds like death but they'll wrap their babies in the word because someone didn't look in the dictionary. If they only knew.
Why do you have to go to emart for aspirin? |

It sounds like a Konglish summary of the lyrics to 'Rock-a-Bye-Baby'.

It looks smart, and makes a fine decoration. How many bother to stop to read it or consider its meaning? Not many I'd guess. |

Judging by all my students' t-shirts this summer (here in China), I'll have to agree with you. |

The love of a woman is the one great thing.
The loves of a man are like a cartoun.
This inscrutable little gem was on a mattress sticker. The picture shows a couple close-up. A married couple smiling.
A woman or couple are shopping for a mattress/bed. The woman sees this advertising quote and is assured that the affairs of men are like cartoons. So in one ear and out the other. Nothing like real love. I like this bed company, she thinks, that could bless a bed with such lines. |
