I recently did a midnight run from Checker English in Jeongja-dong Bundang. As a result my former boss has threatened my life. While he could be lying I thought it was important to let others know about what my boss is like as he is likely looking for a new teacher.

The email from him to me is below:

"Please kill yourself. You are not a human being. Please go to hell. If you don't, I'll go to Canada and then I don't know what to do to you. I am going to Canada this Year. Before that, I hired a man who is a killer. He will find you in a month. You intentionally cheated me. Do you belive in God? You will go to hell. You must be punished by God and me. Please wait, he will teach you a lesson that you have to learn.
I went to your Trabella Studio. YOu are not a human being. You're an pest that must be killed.

If you don't want to be punished, run away from you country. And I'll follow you.

I belived you, And I treated you as a teacher. But you betrayed me intentionally. Please, please kill yourself. You are not a human being."

I understand that some of you might find what I did unethical, but it can't warrant threat s to a teachers life. My boss was an authoritarian asshole who treats his teachers like subordinate slaves, doesn't care about actually educating students, the welfare of the students, following his contract or obeying korean business laws.

Anyways people just might want to avoid working for him whether or not his threats are sincere, of which I honestly don't know.

Shawn

Hahahaha, that letter's hilarious. You probably shouldn't be posting it here though..I'd erase it and consider talking to your embassy about it. He's making death threats to you. This is potentially serious business...

Wow, cause God wants people hiring hit men. Forward the email to the Canadian Security Intelligence Service and the RCMP. Get in contact with them and ask them for their advice. If the loser has dealings in Canada, a nice cavity search for him at the airport might be in store.

A friend acted as an agent for an associate that owned "road.com". He registered the domain back in the mid-90s. Naturally as the dot.com frenzy hit its peak, people were trying to get the domain from him. What's funny is the large number of people that figured they could dupe him into selling road.com for $5,000 in 1999. He eventually sold it to a wireless software company for over a million (my friend got a 15% commission). Anyway, some Russian mafia types told him he WOULD accept $50,000 for the domain and someone was coming to Canada to take custody of the domain and if didn't accept the GENEROUS payment, he would accept a BULLET in the head.

This letter was turned over to CSIS and they put a watch at the ports of entry...

Shocked Jeez, I'd love to hear the unfiltered version from a neutral 3rd party of what went down at the school between teacher and director, to warrant that kind of letter.

Yeah, especially since it's right in my back yard.

What is the scoop behind all of this?

Hell, don't hide such info - this is just what we all need to make informed decisions on where to work, or not.

I wish I got e-mails like that - far better than all those "I love you, you're sexy, marry me" e-mails that flood my inbox.

Since gay marriage is legal in Canada, you can expect a whole lot more.

Human bean! Ha ha you stole that of me but I only borrowed it from Terry Pratchett!

To be fair I did use it in a thread on veg burgers so my usuage was more legit Wink

I want the lowdown on this one too before it gets banned thread status, dave likes to look after his customers after all.

I quite like working in Pundang certainly the best boss I ever had in Korea when I worked out there.

That original post is all the proof I need to say, damn, there is a lot of untreated and undiagnosed mental illness in this country! I see it often.

I am pretty good at detecting it.

I'd try to get as much info out of him as I could, especially about when and where he plans to go to Canada. See if you can get him to send you a similar email or better yet phone messages from Canada if he actually goes there, and then have him arrested and charged. Once you're on your own turf the guy's toast; whatever business dealings he has in Canada will be fucked, and then you can start contacting every aquantaince he has that you know of in Korea informing them of what happened.
