My clothes are getting mangled in the laundry and I finally bought some fabric softener yesterday. I tried to find delicates bags (you know, the mesh ones that come in various sizes) at Grand Mart, but couldn't. Where can I find them?

Thanks!

Do you have those weird plastic balls in your washing machine when you do the wash? They make a world of difference.

Just a suggestion. You might also want to try the wool () setting as it tends to not leave your clothes in quadruple knots.

Really?? I've got some of those, and they don't stop my washing from tangling up!! What am I (or my washing machine) doing wrong? Confused

Hmmm...does anyone know of a 1000 won store near Shinchon? I have never seen any while walking around.

I really thought Grand Mart would have delicates bags, as they have a pretty good selection of stuff. I looked up and down the laundry areas pretty thoroughly, though, even as I was attacked by aggressive sales people right and left. (Is there anywhere in Korea where it's less stressful to shop for stuff???)

Ekuboko, how big is your washing machine and how many balls are you using? In one washer, eight worked fine. In another washer, I had to use double that--16 to see any effect.

My washing machine is quite small, only 6.5kg. I am using how ever many were in the packet I bought.. maybe half a dozen? Should I buy more?
Could it also be because they are the plastic ones, rather than more flexible rubbery-type ones?

Taobenli: larger supermarkets like Lotte Mart, E-Mart and Homeplus will sell mesh bags among the shower curtains and toilet seats. They are probably a bit more expensive than 1000 won stores. BUT! These supermarkets sometimes also feature a 1000won section anyway (I know Seoul Station Lotte Mart does).

I had a similar problem with my machine and broke out my dictionary and figured out that I had the water setting on its lowest level. Now I use as much water as I can and the tangled clothing problem has gone with the water.

Well, I did my laundry on the wool setting and it seems better. Thanks for that advice.

So, Grand Mart is expensive, huh? I've just been shopping there because it's close to where I live. What other stores would you recommend for cheaper everyday items? Where are Lotte Mart, E-mart and Homeplus located? And are they cheaper?

I'm all about saving money here since I'm a poor student.

What are those plastic balls for? Do you put something inside them? I haven't been using them.

Why Korean washers were designed without agitators I'll never guess, but what tends to happen is clothes tie themselves in knots & yank at the seams & wear themselves out real quick.

So I call those rubber thingies agitator balls. They really work to break up the snarl & prolong the life of your clothes. Just toss a few in & leave them there.
