SAIPAN (Reuters) - In a gesture of reconciliation, Japanese Emperor Akihito made a surprise visit on Tuesday to a Korean war dead memorial during a pilgrimage to the island of Saipan where a decisive World War II battle was fought.
In the brief, unannounced visit, Akihito -- son of the late Emperor Hirohito in whose name Japanese fought and died -- and Empress Michiko bowed deeply before the Korean Peace Memorial.

Interesting that this news is all over the western media and Japanese outlets, but nair a peep is to be heard from Korean media sources. |

Do you mean the English-language Korean news? I've got 48 references to it in Korean here
Including this nice picture in the λϺ:
In comparison the word 'dokdo' gives 2500 articles, so no, they're not exactly going crazy over this news. |
