My best friends have just given birth to their firstborn, and I am returning home to Australia to see them in a few weeks. What I want to know is, as I am a typically inept male when it comes to these things, what would make a suitable gift for them and their son? I want to buy something that is typically Korean and will be a kind of a keepsake, hopefully for life. Thanks in advance. |

I'[m in a similar situation, and I'm leaning towards buying one of the little gold rings that are traditional gifts for baby's 100-day celebration |

they have it in most jewelry shops, its called , should cost around 50,000 - you should ask for 'ѵ'
another really nice gift that will run you a bit more money is a baby blanket set - they can use the blankets until they're about 5-6 and its hard to find that quality elsewhere (just dont buy the 'yo' part- the thick futon type pad that you're meant to sleep on the floor with) and they are some of the nicest baby blankets i've ever seen - they sell them in the baby department of the big department stores |

They don't just sell gold rings.. they have these gorgeous little braceles for babies.. Letty's grandma bought her one and is really nice.
This is similar to what my MIL bought for Letty...
This particular one is 200,000 won. But there are cheaper ones too. I think the best place to look might be the big jewelry building in Gangnam, next to the bus terminal. |

What about one of those cute traditional outfits the little ones wear on special occasions like Chusok?
I was thinking of getting one for my niece...or maybe a hand painted kite for the baby's room....I dunno. |

I got my niece one of those painted name scroll type things from insadong. When I mentioned that it was a baby the man made some hanja characters for good luck on it.
Parents thought it was a cool present. |
