Hi, I've asked this question before but it wasn't answered:
Can you please give me the names of online classifieds in Seoul that are frequently used? In Korean or English is okay. I think something like Seoul Scene was mentioned before (but I might be remembering wrong, though). Can people please give me names of others? I'm looking for the kind of message board where people would post for language exchanges (actual ones, not dating). I am trying to get ideas for research and need to meet more Koreans to do this. And I need to get it done in a limited amount of time (2 months) and I don't know enough people yet.
So post any links you know, please... |

straightforward classifieds thing:
http://www.lifeinkorea.com/cgi-bin/forums/lx.cfm
the following is a daum cafe related to korean people meeting foreigners. its not really for language exchange, but its also not a dating site, so hooking up a language exchange should be easy. you have to join daum and then get permission from the mod of the site, but both are easy enough to do. there are of course a million koreans and about 2 foreigners there.

but really, in my experience, language exchanges suck. its better to just meet somebody who you have a natural friendship and just talk to them. or go the exact opposite route and do what mith always advises and insist on paying the person. that way you'll be sure not to waste any time. just my opinion. but don't worry, there's a million koreans jumping out of their pants to do language exchange with an English speaker. ah, wait, i didn't mean that literally. |

Taobenli,
PLEASE don't do language exchanges. Just go sign up for a class in calligraphy where your teacher can't say more than "hello, thank you, bye-bye, coca-cola". Then she can teach you calligraphy one on one, speaking in Korean the whole time. You'll learn calligraphy and have language practice.
The calligraphy is just an example. You have my phone number, call me, I can hook you up with an activity you'd enjoy. I promise.

I actually don't want to do language exchanges....I was just using that as an example. I want to find Korean families with young children who I can observe for my research and use English tutoring as a way to gain access to these families. It's hard though unless I can find a way to reach Korean families. I will only be in Seoul for two more months so I need to act fast...
And Cedar, I'll be contacting you...I really want to study calligraphy, actually!
