I'm weak, the complete shite that is the korean embassy website is on the verge of breaking me...please help...

Where do I go to get this visa?
What am I going to get a visa or just a stamp?
What do I need to get this thing?
I'm supposed to leave on Jan 2nd, do I have enough time?


There may be more question but I need fresh air, I don't understand why every link on that god forsaken website is either broke or leads me to thomas cook...WHY????........

Did you get your criminal record check apostilled in the UK?

More importantly have you even applied for a criminal record check? This can take a while to come back from the Met so you need to pull your finger out yur arse if you haven't.

i think along with your confirmation number, your recruiter should be mailing back your paperwork (what blade listed) together with documentation from your employer showing they're sponsoring you.

then, you go to the consulate or mail the documents to them (along with a pre-paid return envelope)

Or like me, i just went to the local consulate (i'm lucky there's one in my city) dropped off my paperwork, and picked up my passport two days later.

you should talk to your recruiter and ask what's up with your documents...

I've done the CRC, that was one of the docs I had to send to Korea (it was apostilled in korea). Unfortunately the Korean Embassy is not in my city, it is down the other side of the countr...so I'll either have to risk the post, which considering the time of year is not something I want to be doing, especially because those damn posties are planning a strike just before christmas, or I go down which just isn't going to happen if I have to wait a couple of days anyway. And it seems I've got to get some health insurance letter, what is this crap!? arghh...so much BS!

I too know what a headache it can be, I was a UK passport holder wanting to go from New Zealand, with a rapidly expiring visa for NZ I had to make various calls to the embassy. It ended up coming down to the last day but my school were helpful and I managed to get my visa just in time!

If I were you I would call the Korean Embassy in London (0207 2275500) and find out how long it will take them to issue the visa (usually 3-5 days plus postage time). You will need to send:

One completed visa application form
One recent passport-type colour photo (attached to the visa applicatin form)
Original and a photocopy of passport (remaining validity of at least 6 months)
visa fee (Cash or Money Order Only)
Visa issuance confirmation number (written on the top of your application form)
Self-addressed, pre-paid envelope for return of the passport by mail (if you would like to get it by mail


If you've got to leave on the 2nd of Jan I'd suggest fast posting it down to London recorded delivery, they will send it back recorded because it has your passport in.

Good luck, I'm sure everything will work out. If you haven't got your flight booked they probably won't do it until you get your visa so don't panic.

oh and by the way, I didn't get any documents back until I got to Korea, in fact my emplyer still has my degree certificate, just so I can't do a runner I guess (not that I'd want too!)

I thought you could only get it apostilled at the fco in central london (i have a feeling this may have changed.

No worries caedem, I know how much shite you can read about things on the internet, I did it myself and seemed to get different responses every time I looked. Putting Liverpool as your place of issuance should be fine, I think I just put the UK, they probably don't even look at that bit!
