OK, I am no expert on this but I thought I'd throw out this warning cuz it cost me 80,000
I had been working at my last school for 3 years and all the while paying 50% of my insurace. I think it worked out to about 35,000 won a month. While my employer paid the other half. All good so far right? well, no.
Before I left the school i reminded the Boss to cancel my insurance (as i was planing on going under my wifes work sponsored plan). Anyways, when she (my boss) phoned the insurance people they said "no need to cancel, it will automatically change over when he gets his new one".
Well, I left the school at the end of feb and got my new insurance card on about the 8th of mar. Here's the thing though, I have to pay for the entire month (!!) of march for two reasons ;
1- I was insured for 8 days because my Company one needed time to process (and apparently they do not have any partial month payments)
2- My employer had me under Local insurance. That means two things from what I understand; a) it's cheaper for the payments and b) how it transfers over is different than company insurance.
ok, to make a long story shot, I'm out 80,000 and not sure who to blame. I should have put myself under my wifes insurance quickly (or even long before) but then again, my boss should have told me about the cancellation problems/conversation and that I wasn't under the proper insurance.
either way, just a heads up to you out there. |
