I got no pictures but I never carry my camera when I need it. Any who its one of the Pickup trucks that has two flags beside the cab. On the back of it has this contraption that spits out tons of smoke it smells like crap. Oh it also plays annoying music. Is this like pesticide truck or something? Is this safe for humans? |

Pyrethrins are natural insecticides found in daisy-like Chrysanthemum flowers grown and harvested in Kenya, Africa and Austrailia. Pyrethrins have a low order of toxicity to warm-blooded animals and can be used even in the home with extreme confidence. When pyrethrins are combined with a synergist like piperonyl butoxide, its "killing power" against insects increases dramatically. The United States Department of Agriculture has stated that synergized pyrethrum "is probably the safest of all insecticides for use in food plants "and that " a pyrethrum formulation is approved for use around foodstuffs". Pyrethrin may be used with safety in food plants, homes and around animals where more hazardous materials cannot be used.
However, in Korea they probably use concentrated agent orange! |

Me and my gf were at a busstop and caught a driveby by one o them things once. It was coming around a curve so we didn't have much warning. Tried to make it to good cover but failed.
I'd say about half the Koreans there tried to escape as well.
The ol respritory tract didn't feel so hot after that. |

I had the same thing happen at my hagwan a few weeks ago. The truck came by and I heard the kids freaking out. I thot they were scrambling to get inside away from it. I run into the reception area (I'm always in a BIG hurry to close the windows and doors when I hear it coming.) The kids have the door open and others are basically playing in it. I quickly push one of the kids out of the way - kinda like Costanza bowling over the senior to get out of the fire. I close the door and watch as everyone else basically continues, business as usual. Do they not know what that stuff is? |

If it's so safe, why does it smell so foul? |

Safe as my ass.
That crap smells an awful lot like the Malathion we would spray on the farm. I'm not saying it is Malathion, but if it's killing stuff, you know it can't be all that good for humans to be breathing in. It also has a similar smell to the herbicides being sprayed, i.e. poison. I'd be curious as to the official name of the product that they're spewing.
I'm also curious as to the life expectancy of the guys in the back with the hoses. That's gotta rank up there with one of the worst jobs that one could have. |

Ok. I got the scoop on the "fog trucks". I teach professors and 2 of them are Environmental Science profs, one of whom is really into air pollution. I asked them about the fog trucks and they all agreed that they're VERY dangerous and the chemicals probably contain carcinogens (sp?).
I asked them "Why do parents allow their children to play behind the trucks?". They said that the parents probably don't know how dangerous it is because there is no information given out about them.
I let it go because it's a situation that I can't do anything about...but I'll continue to close my windows when the fog trucks pass by! |

What?! HA epitomizes Korea. That beautiful face should be on the next issue of the Korean 1000 Won bill. A campaign needs to be started. Any takers? |
