It's sounds snobby to say I don't care at all-- like a train wreck, I don't like it but I'm too curious not to look-- but to me it seems strange that North Americans mock the British love for royalty and yet they set up celebrities as a sort of royalty. To me these people are not better or purer or more interesting than anyone else.

But I still wanted to see Mr. & Mrs. Smith (it was pretty cheesy).

I used to not mind celebrity gossip all that much. I'm not sure why but I used to read People and other things if they were lying around. Then, I don't know what happened. It all became meaningless. I don't know these people. Who cares if so and so is getting a divorce, had an affair, is getting fat, etc.? The thing that bothered me is that I couldn't escape it. It bothers me that I know certain things. How the life of Paris Hilton ever became something of interest I'll never understand.

I've been going out of my way to avoid it here (just so I can go back home and not know certain people and look like I've been on Mars or something) but it is so hard. I open my hotmail account and see, Angeline Jolie pregnant? Tom and Katie heat things up. Paris Hilton engaged. You'd think that people would want to read about something important rather than speculation about who's had breast implants. The average person is an idiot.
