What's up with the dance club music, man. I bought an MP3 player to escape the neverending, unchanging, perpetual club music I hear everywhere when I take walks around my town. The Barbie song that I only hear here. The tchk-tssh, tchk-tssh, tchk-tssh I hear in every taxi cab and clothing store. The freaky dancing girls in front of shoe stores, even in the rain.

Do they really like that music?

Does anyone here live with a Korean? How about those of you who are married to one? Do they listen to this music at home?

Why is it so pervasive? Are they choosing it or are they just on auto-pilot? Does their marketing data show that Koreans spend more money when you play this music?

This is the only place I've lived with such a monotonous selection of music in public places. Confused

Almost any music in public places pisses me off and tends to drive me away. Places with loud annoying music that suk include;
parking garages
parks
mountain sides
inside supermarkets
outside supermarkets

In fact almost everywhere, will they shut up already!

It's third world disease, I think. Every developing country I've ever lived in or seen had to advertise their business with annoying dance music played too loud. Mexicans just don't notice a new business unless they're deafened by cheesy music and dancing girls (didn't mind the dancing girls, though).

Perhaps it's hard to control the dynamic range of other types of music. Dance music has the same puun-chiss puun-chiss sound all day long, and it's easy to regulate volume levels.

My fiance listens to classical. It's better than bad dance. Not everyone listens to this teenybop trash. And I thought this thread would be about Freddie Mercury.

Koreans are always enchanted with any different music. They always are tapping their feet next to me in the PC bang... some of them even stand nearby just to listen to the "new" western music I tend to download.
