My computer is a laptop and from england. Is there a plug in for writing in Korean? Failing that is it possible to plug in a new keyboard into a laptop?

Don't laptops have PS2 ports? If so, use a keyboard with Korean characters.

To add Korean, go the control panel, regional/language options and add it. Then you should be able to imput Korean.

It can't be done- Westerners don't have the right fingers for typing Hangeul in exactly the same way that Koreans don't have the right tongue for English.

If you're running XP you have the IME, just go and change your region and language settings in the control panel (you'll need the XP disk I think).

If you don't want to buy a Hangeul keyboard there are sticker sheets you can buy to put on your keys- I had a set that comfortably lasted for a number of years on my laptop keyboard.

I found them in the big office-supply store in the COEX Mall (name of which currently escapes me). I've also seen them in stores like Morning Glory. They're not marketed as bilingual stickers for foreign keyboards, they're marketed as a fun way for kids to customize their computers, so some of the colours and styles can look pretty bad, but if you can find a decent coloured set they do the trick quite nicely. I'd look for them anywhere that they sell computer peripherals and goofy school-supply stuff.

So these guys have already handled the issue of typing in Korean.

I say, if you want to write, pick up a Wacom graphics tablet or something.

Yes. I have a 4 year old HP lap top with a keyboard plugged into it. The keyboard has english language keys but also has hangul characters on the appropriate keys. The keyboard cost around 21,000 won.

caveat: Check what kind of port you have to stick things into. If it's a newer laptop, I think those tend not to have ps/2 ports built into them anymore. I believe you'll have more luck with USB devices.

This is where I reveal just how incomplete my computer knowledge is ......... my keyboard has a round 6 pin plug which connects straight into the HP laptop. I know it's not a USB connection so I guess it must be a ps/2 port. However there is also a USB port which I have plugged a mouse into (I don't like using the touch pad built into my laptop)

I believe, but I'm not sure, that you can buy an 'adaptor' which enables you to connect a ps/2 plug to a USB socket. Maybe Pangit, or someone far more knowledgeable than me, could comment on this,
