I just came across this poor guy's name on an English assessment sheet, and his name is Oh Yu Seok. Tehehe. I know someone that had a student named Yoo Suk Bum. Maybe I'm immature, but this kind of thing just kills me. Anybody have students with funny names? Oh- one more: I had a student named Lee Sul. I was like, "Your name is 'liquor?!"" She told me it means "dew", and is considered a very pretty name. Very Happy

Edit: my co-workers reminded me to add "Young Bum" and "Ho Bum" as well. Heh.

I am probably one of the few non-Brits who finds the Korean name Min Ji absolutely hilarious. Laughing

I've giggled about that one too.

Hye Ri is a pretty common name, but if she came to an English speaking country, I could see her being called "Hairy" in under a minute. Recently her Korean classmates have been calling her Harry Potter, but that's not quite as bad.

I don't get it....what's funny about Minji?

I have a Bum-Seok. When I'm angry and want to yell at him, it's always awkward deciding whether to accent the BUM or the SEOK. (BUM-Seok!) (Bum-SEOK!) Either way, after six months, I'm still biting back a smile and swallowing giggles.

Americans call it a beaver, Brits call it minge (pronounced minje).

If I get anymore descriptive, I'll have to ban myself.
