| well not entirely but that is how I feel as I am at the airport about to leave for good after 2 years. This would have to be the worst country to live in that I have experienced. Between the gum snapping ajummas and the racist ajoshis, you guys can keep this place. It can be said that Koreans are the most ignorant race on the earth..............don't know how you lifers do it...............see ya Korea. |

If its sooo bad how did you manage to stay for 2 years?
I hope you can take some good out of all this. You know like perhaps you changed for the better? After experiencing racism, maybe you are now not racist (Im not saying you were, this is just an example).
Of everyone I know who has lived overseas, they have come home a better person - usually they have done a lot of growing up.

That would make more sense if you weren't the guy who wanted to extend his visa for 6 weeks.

It's not all bad.
If you hated it so much why did you stay for 2 years?
All that over and done with; I hate the place too, I can't wait to leave when my contracts up. I've had a gut full of basically the same stuff. Add lying to your list as well as co-teachers that often don't turn up and simply expect me to teach the lesson when I don't legally have to ("It is your duty"). Whatever Mr XYZ, we both know your full of it.
But look on the bright side:
1) With the exception of traffic offenses, crime is low.
2) It's cheap to drink in bars, if thats your thing.
3) The Internet is quick (though mines not too relaible)
4) Though some Koreans are C**ts, the average person on the street is freindly.
5) It's possible for people to save a high percentage of their wages whilst still having a reasonoble lifestyle.
6) you get to look at the majority of Koreans and realize how smart you actually are.
I bet it feels good to be sitting in the airport thinking about someone who has lied to you (In my case Mr. XYZ) and say to yourself "I won in the end. I got to leave this god awful place."
Think of it as an expereince gained I guess. |

I don't live in Korea anymore so I have nothing to justify. But if you ever find a country that doesn't have the expats complaining about it please let the rest of us know where this Shangri-la can be found. |

people complain everywhere but not to the extent that they do here.......anyway I am not going to fight over it with you..........it sucked for me and it sucks for almost everyone I have met...and come to think of it the only people that really enjoy Korea that I met had some sort of bizarre personality dysfunction that prevented them from living a "normal" life in their home country........there you go, another can of worms.....bring it on

Would you mind keeping your gloating to yourself I've got a few more weeks to go. And it makes me feel miserable that I'm still here when you talk about transit lounges. |

I and most of my friends enjoy our lives in Korea.
Oh wait, no! We must be dysfunctional morons!
Here's a tip for you, remember when you met other foreigners and started going:
"Man I hate Korea, everyone spits all the time, it costs me like 9,000 won for a can of VB, you can't get meat pies anywhere..."
then they quickly made up an excuse and left? They were the people having a good time that couldn't be bothered listening to your whining. |
