So I'm doing a jeapordy game next lesson with my kids. I want them to be free questions, and need some sort of buzzer device for them. I have 7 teams and typically teach 43 kids in a lesson. I though using those fan things to hit the table but appreciate suggestions...

little brass bells are cheap here
You hit the top and it chimes, many of the Korean teachers at my school have them at my school. |

A kazoo? You could play the Jeaprody theme song while you're waiting.
Out of curiosity, is there a computer screen version you can use - I remember you saying something about something like that. |

Squeaky hammers are annoying, but they're cheap and effective buzzers.
Also human/student buzzers work. Have a student sit in a chair and pretend to be an animal. When the other student knows the answer, he slaps the buzzer's shoulder (NOT HEAD) and the buzzer makes his animal sound. |

Hmm I'll have a look for squeaky hammers tonight, although in retrospect, my classes are massively noisy ANYWAY so perhaps i'd be better off having first hand up...
I'm making it into a powerpoint, though i've never seen jeapardy so i don't know if it will be an accurate representation.
If anyone wants a copy pm me |

I made a little 4 led first response circuit with nice big buttons. It's still in the prototype stage (that is, I haven't made a PCB for it yet, it's still just mounted on the breadboard) so it looks like hell, but it works great and takes away any sour grapes about who rang in first because everybody can see which light is on.
If you want to make one Yongsan has all the electronic parts you need.
I also made a big ass jeopardy board. The jpeg is below, but the real one is about 1.5 meters high.
It's printed on cloth and behind the numbers I had a piece of cloth sewn. Above each number is a slit so essentially every square has it's own pocket.
It cost about 35,000 to print and is versatile as *beep*. |

Wow thats pretty flash.
I do an easy low-tech version & my kids love it just the same. I just scrawl my questions on a sheet of A4 & draw the grid in chalk. Erase the numbers as they choose them & read the questions from the paper. |
