Hey all,

I'm wondering if anyone downloads tv shows to watch? I've been reading up on it because it would be great to be able to watch all the new shows this fall. It sounds like you need to buy the software for your computer and then you are all set. Just curious if anyone is doing it and if it as easy as it sounds?

Also, How expensive is it to get a computer or laptop in Korea? Would I be better off bringing one with me? Thanks! Very Happy

I download TV shows, movies, and music through bit torrent. I didn't need to buy anything special...I just downloaded a program onto my computer which I use, in turn, to download different files. No problems with spyware/viruses yet after 4 months or so, either.

I originally brought a laptop with me to Korea, and have since bought a desktop here. I found it to be quite reasonable price-wise, although the operating system is in Korean, which might be a pain for some. Also, it is very convenient to have bought a local computer if there are technical issues, which I found out the hard way with my American bought one.

For bit torrent...

Get the software client here.

Do a search for a few of the following websites and start downloading:

Torrentspy.com
Torrentsearch.com
Torrentmatrix.com
Novatina.com
Pirate's Bay

As for computers, they're overpriced here though still not too expensive and, as an above poster said, getting after-service is much easier if you buy it here. Many places offer comprehensive warranties for at least the first year.

If you'd like to get a few illegal downloads, start with getting your downloading software here:

http://www.bittornado.com/download.html

Looks like Bulsajo gave a good site and here are more:

http://thepiratebay.org/ <---no need for membership, at least the last time I used it. Mainly games, vids, and software, but some TV.

http://www.torrentleech.org/ <---requires membership. PM me if you want an invite. Lots of TV shows on this one.

http://blackcats-games.com/ <---membership required. Lots of games if you get a chipped PS2 or Xbox here.

If you want legal stuff:

http://mediahopper.com/portal.htm

I'm not sure if you're going to be able to get much of what you're looking for there though.

If you already have a laptop, why not bring it and save yourself a bit of money? If you know where to go and have a Korean friend to help, you can get a reasonably-priced desktop/laptop here. My brother-in-law and I put together an excellent desktop system for 1.2mil, excluding monitor. Occasionally, you may experience a software readability(coding) issue when using Korean software on an English OS or vice-versa, but there's usually a way around that little problem.

You can get the best of both worlds by buying a Dell in Korea. I think the prices are comparable to what you'd pay in the States. I'm currently typing away on my 3 1/2 year old Inspiron 8100 with which I've had very few problems. On the other hand, my friend has a Korean made laptop which has given her headaches from day 1. People seem to have good enough luck with Korean desk tops, but I won't bother with the laptops.

Where and how are you downloading BG?

If you can give me a simple explanation, assuming I'm not into going here and going there and downloading this and that onto my laptop, I'll be most appreciative...
