Does anyone have any information concerning how to aquire a criminal background check in Korea? I need one for the GEPIK public school job but I've gotten the run-around at the local police station.

| They should be able to do one for you .. on your time in Korea.. As far as I know that is acceptable for the school system right now. They told me it was VERY uncommon for them to take the 10 fingerprints and do all that work to get it from your home country. |

You can do two things:
Use the neglected "Search" function, as this topic has come up before.
or
Contact your embassy, they will be able to set you up with the proper forms and contact numbers. |

| My recruiter asked me to get one when I was applying for my EPIK job and I said sure I will try and get one. Needless to say I did nothing about it. That was 2 1/2 months ago. It has never been mentioned again along with the medical exam I was supposed to take. |

Thanks but I've done all of the above. The Embassy can help with getting one from Canada and the search gives tons of threads on all kinds of subjects |

This criminal check thing is a real pain in the ass.
I'm from Ireland and when I rung up the Irish Embassy they told me that they can't issue any checks as they have no way of checking it. They told me to get the check from my local police station back home.
So I called them up and they told me that they have no central computer so that they can't do it either!! But they said that I can get a "character reference" for visa purposes. So my mother had to go to the station and get it and now it's being sent out to me. What a load of work for this GEPIK job. It better be worth it!! |

I think a korean one will work.. that is what the police office in Suwon said.. they said that they have done several in the past few weeks and they were fine. |

| Guess I'll just have to go to another police station and hope it all works out. Has anyone previously done this in Seoul? |
