The contemporary use of the phobia suffix is revealing. Phobias are considered a disorder and disorder is a lite form of saying disease. People that are allowed by law and custom to make diagnosis are generally physicians but in a recent debate liberals have been adding the suffix pretty much at will to whatever cause they have at the time as an offense against their opponents. In effect, its a charge of mental illness. This was also a tactic that The Soviet Union used to silence political dissention. The continuity makes perfect sense. In other words, "You are either with us, or mentally diseased".

In effect, liberals equate themselves with the not only the educated elite of society, that being physicians but also co opt their scientific objectivity
and simultaneously diagnos their opponents as mentally ill.

Therefore, if a liberal really makes a diagnosis of Islamaphobia, Xenophobia, Homophobia, they should be able to write a medicine prescription for the condition and sign it "Joe Shmoe, Liberal". To wit, the pharmacist will laugh and say something akin to "quack".

While we're at it, we should consider examinations for the liberal delusionsal disorder which is similar to the grandiose delusional disorder...

Quote:
Delusions
Definition

A delusion is an unshakable belief in something untrue. These irrational beliefs defy normal reasoning, and remain firm even when overwhelming proof is presented to dispute them. Delusions are often accompanied by hallucinations and/or feelings of paranoia, which act to strengthen confidence in the delusion. Delusions are distinct from culturally or religiously based beliefs that may be seen as untrue by outsiders.

Description

Delusions are a common symptom of several mood and personality-related mental illnesses, including schizoaffective disorder, schizophrenia, shared psychotic disorder, major depressive disorder, and bipolar disorder. They are also the major feature of delusional disorder. Individuals with delusional disorder suffer from long-term, complex delusions that fall into one of six categories: persecutory, grandiose, jealousy, erotomanic, somatic, or mixed. There are also delusional disorders such as dementia that clearly have organic or physical causes

In particular

Quote:
Grandiose

Individuals with grandiose delusional disorder have an over-inflated sense of self-worth. Their delusions center on their own importance, such as believing that they have done or created something of extreme value or have a "special mission."

Ah, so until the late 1800's with the beginning of modern psychiatry, no one was qualified to say, "Good god almighty, that fool is spouting total nonsense and ought to be locked up where he can't hurt anyone." Is that right?

"All Liberals are mentally ill." Maybe you should slap a patent on such a novel idea.

If all it takes to be considered not one of your so called "conservatives" is mentally ill, then get me the straight jacket, because, I'd rather have some one try to tie me down than stiffle my thougth or my speech - they may bind my body, but they will never bind my mind.

That, I think is the true need for dissidence, to keep up the discourse though their may be those who don't want to hear it -

So sir, respectfully, I assume the responsibilities of "The Mad Hatter" - "If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?"

Seems like a pretty nice world to me......

Sorry, I just take umbrage at the practise of calling people mentally ill however indirectly. Its really phony. People's medical conditions are supposed to be kept private. I'm surprised someone hasn't gotten sued for slander yet. I suppose it'd be funny if I spread rumors about so and so having VD or AIDS but when confronted about it, offered a poem.

I don't hate liberals all the time. Their food is good, many of the women are superficially very attractive, some an produce good art and they have the best party favors. I'm just really tired of being force fed thought by the people with open minds or open at least according to them.

yes please, take your umbrage- and stuff it. You're implying that only liberals mis-use Latin suffixes; What a weak argument to hide your stereotypical bigotry.

"dislike" doesn't translate as phobic. "Dislike" translates as "dysphillic".

People that don't like gay people are homodysphillic, not homophobic.
