You too?
We had samgyetang for lunch at my school as well today (and watermelon for dessert!).
Something about it being the end of term. |

I thought today was Bosintang Day? The other teachers are trying to get me to go out for a night of bosintang and soju after school.
My school always serves things like samgyetang (chicken, ginseng, and country herb soup) and bimbimbap on special days, mid-term, end of finals, end of term, etc.

One of the best things about my school is the lunch, especially compared to my other past schools. Not only is it some of the best food I've had in Korea, it's all organic produce.
Today's lunch was bibimbap with sprouts that we grew hydroponically at the school. |

Amazing. We had samgyetang today too. Must have been a public school thing. |

I didn't have any lunch today. I was too busy and stupid to look at the time and worked right through lunch preparing for my summer camp. Anyway, I think we had some kind of chicken soup as well, but I don't think it was sahm-gye-tahng. Regardless, I got home early and will be making myself a nice big burger shortly. Not a dog-burger... |

i hate my school lunches
every darn day they collect some leaves and mud, add some of the most thick rice slop, drain a river for the soup, and deep-fry some off-cuts of cat
oh, and add some gochujang |

Is Samgyetang REALLY hot with brown things in it? Otherwise I have say not all public schools served it today.
Anyone else sick of boiled rice? |

occasionally the school caf will put out a decent spaghetti. I confuse the heck out of them when I tell them I just want spaghetti, no rice.
Is it just my caf or do they seem to go super carb heavy.
Typical meal is rice(of course), kimchi, soup of some kind and then they have 2 other dishes to fill on your tray. I is usually a vegetable of some sort, the other is always a starch, dok, potato, corn salad etc. |

You know, that actually doesn't sound that bad. Is the goh-choo-jjahng good? The reason I ask is because the last two times I had bee-bihm-bahp at my school, the stuff tasted like salt. It looked like goh-choo-jjahng, had the consistency of it, smelled a bit like it, but tasted like it was made from 100% salt. I like my bee-bihm-bahp spicy, so I applied a liberal amount to the mix. Then, I spit it out after one taste. The rest of the teachers looked at me like I was crazy. Seriously, it was the most digustingly salty stuff I have ever eaten. I bring my own bottle now. |

I had spaghetti yesterday. It was not too bad. The others looked at me a bit strangely because I only had the spaghetti, salad, and soup on my tray. However, they are starting to get a bit used to my quirky eating habits. Most of them don't understand my philosophy of, "If I don't like it, I won't eat it. And, yes, I will go hungry if need be." The rice does get a bit blah at times. I can't eat the stuff more than once a day, and even once a day is somewhat trying at times. |

Not sure what that is. Are the brown things tentacles? If so, it might be jahm-bohng you were eating. Not sure. Sahm-gye-tahng is boiled stuffed chicken. Restaurants usually stuff a whole chicken with rice, ginseng, garlic, dates, and other herbs as JackTheCat stated. The serving is for one person. It's pretty nice and filling. |
