Young Women Unprepared for Sex and the City
A quarter of unmarried women under the age of 25 in the Seoul area have sex regularly, a survey reveals. Soonchunhyang University gynecologist Lee Im-sun on Thursday announced the results of a survey of the sexual attitudes among Korea's young women conducted in March and April by of 400 unmarried women -- high school graduates and above -- between the ages of 17 and 25. According to the poll results, 34 percent (136 women) of the respondents were sexually experienced, while one in five had sex regularly, meaning three times a month or more. "The survey results indicated that women in their 20s are defenseless against pregnancy," Lee said. "If you have no plans to have children, you absolutely need to practice birth control."

Where do they come up with this stuff?
Reminds me of a small town newspaper where they get the funniest guy to write up the police reports. |

there was an article last year about how korean women don't go to the gyno untill they get married, even if they've been having sex. i can't find it on the net, but i read in the times or the herald. anyway, the point is that korean women don't know that much about safe sex. also, they don't practise safe sex generally. i think it has something to do with saving face and having to pretend not to know about sex. |

Brian,
I don't know if that was your experience with intimacy with Korean women, but it certainly wasn't mine. I've never really trusted anything written on/in Salon, because it seems like they like to publish deliberately provocative articles that tend to insult one's intelligence. I assume they do so in order to keep the number of hits on their website up.
My most serious relationship with a Korean woman, in her early 30s, was nothing like that article. She was sexually inexperienced, yes...but always honest about taking responsibility for what happened/didn't happen in bed. Happy to let me take the lead, but enjoyed the outcome as much as I did. One time I gave her a bit of a hicky, she was a little annoyed but certainly she didn't place all the blame on me. When she wanted intimacy, she made her desires clear, when she didn't, she made them clear as well.
I personally think the guy in the article was dating a nutbar. |

I came to the same conclusion when I first read this article a few years ago.
It sounds to me like the people behind that study don't want women to have sex. I get the feeling they want women to remain virgins until marriage. They need to realize that the problem of unplanned pregnancies would be solved if Korean men took the appropriate precautions. |

that reminds me of an experience of mine in korea. not the no no part but the whole submissiveness of it. it felt really horrible. and i felt worse for having donw it. so unrewarding. i dont mean to sound like a male idiot saying stuff like that ai just mean i have had a similar experience although others were very different |

Do we live in the Victorian age? The journalist reporting the figures lied with statistics because he didn't bother to look at what the results reveal. The survey shows significantly:
Three-quarters (75%) of unmarried women under 25 are NOT having sex regularly and 66 % had NOT experienced sex.
No wonder the majority of those women surveyed had not decided on a method of birth control. |

You all better re-read the newspapers...thousands of korean high school girls and middle school girls are shagging of their own free will!
Prostitution is a choice...not one can force these women to have sex with customers day in and day out...women are into hooking because of the money. And they blame it on being "forced." They can leave the RLD's or hooker hills any time and walk away!
The old saying..."you can the gal from prostitution....but you can't take prostitution from the gal." |
