Well a while ago I wrote about a newbie being jerked around over pay and what not.

Since that newb has left there has been 2 more going through the same said hogwan.

#2 lasted about 3 weeks and then fled this tiny little town and the insanity of the owners.

#3 arrived 3 days ago from the USA. He has not done a visa run, they are scheduling it for the middle of August. Of course he is teaching(the moment he stepped off the plane) Health care? Who needs it? Pension? dont worry about it? Tax rate 3.3% Rolling Eyes

Should I warn him? Should I help him out? Should I laugh maniacally as he tries to find his way around Korea(doesnt speak, read or understand Korean and its his first time away from home)

I almost feel like starting a pool as to how long this guy will last Laughing . He told me he is here to "nail a Korean chick and the sooner the better " Laughing

Hah!! Well, he's certainly come to the right place then. But isn't that a rather expensive way to go about it? I mean, what country is he from? Jupiter?

Kinda felt bad for him until this little gem.

I'd let him sink.

I don't think the exact same attitude could be ascribed to most male teachers or male expats in general. But I do rather suspect that if Korean society suddenly... oh, let's say turned devout Muslim overnight (but solely with respect to prohibitions on mixing of the sexes -- pork & booze would be okay), what percentage would stay, do you think? (I'm not directing this question specifically at you, Sheba.) I mean, how many of you are up for two years of celibacy and looking without touching (or even flirting)?

And did something crazy like, oh, legislated a year in jail and a W10,000,000 fine for even attempting to procure sex in Korea?

Like they already do.

This is becoming the Saudi Arabia of East Asia.

Anyway, sure, help out noob #3. It's not like he's the first person to think that, nor are Korean girls completely, um, unreceptive. But if he pays for it he is a bad bad man that should go to jail for a long time. Especially if he is a foreigner. Bad! Bad man!

You mean soliciting, or just trying to get some? This job gets worse all the time.

He wouldnt mind nailing a random K chick but one of his first questions was:
"I heard that 2 barber poles is a *beep* house...is that true? Do you know where one is?"

Yes look over your left shoulder Laughing

"hey do you think it would be rude to just go in and look around? How much does it cost? What does it include? Is it an hourly rate?"

Guy is fresh out of Uni and looking for some fun. I dont blame him.

Not everyone reads this or other ESL sites....still....I think common sense should be saying or kicking in..."Gee, I'm going to another country....perhaps I better ask to talk to any other foreigners or past employees before signing.?
