I've been told that if a Hanmail user has sent you an e-mail, he or she can know whether or not you've checked that e-mail. As far as I know Yahoo and Hotmail don't have that feature.

Does anyone know if the Korean e-mail provider Chollian (chol.com) has that feature? I hope it doesn't. Smile

Yeah I had a couple of students tell me that when I said I hadn't read their email. I had but didn't have time to reply and was going to when I got home. I think it is only possible for them to know if you are using an email client such as outlook or outlook express. Checking webmail via your browser shouldn't notify anyone of anything.

It's possible depending on the type of email. One of my emails has the option of adding this feature to outgoing messages. Also everytime I received an email from my recruiter a box popped up saying a 'receipt of email' was being sent to the sender (as in their email had the feature).

apparently hanmail does have this option: sending a receipt to the sender that you've opened their mail. Problem is, it's spotty at best: some of my students got the receipt, while others didn't. Caused me quite a bit of trouble when I had to physically show some loudmouth pushy asshole students that I had indeed read their homework. Caused me trouble during evaluation time.

Hanmail accounts also log the sender's IP. I found this out when a student was referring to an E-mail that I sent her...it was plain as day right in the "from" field. Probably not that big of a deal, but a bit bothersome. Usually, most web-based accounts don't do that these days.

Question
At work it's a useful feature, but on a personal email account?
