|
|
I am seeking the cheapest way to get out of here and back to Canada.
Does anyone know about flying standby in Korea, or some cheap method of flying home?
I dont want to show up at the airport with by 10,000 pounds of luggage and be turned away.
Any advice is appreciated. |

That's the inherent gamble of flying standby, no? The whole point is there's no guarantee. Sorry I can't be any help, but I can't think of any way to ensure you won't wait forever. |

Hi im the poster
i have no problem with waiting 24 or more hours to get out of her.
i do worry like the previous poster said that they dont understand the concept. korean dont grasp alot things i see as normal.
is this true that they dont fly stand by in this country, korea air in canada says yes but as with all korean businesses in canada and korea, the opinion in canada and in korea is very different.
dou you think i should try or buy a ticket.
anyone know of a place with good prices to canada? |

I tried flying standby in China. They did not fricking get the concept. Anyhoo, with international flights, the name of the game is to get arses in the seats so i imagine there would be few empty slots left. Maybe I'm wrong on this. |

Prices are high on direct flights to canada because of Air Canada's monopoly on them. I bet if you took a flight with an American airline to somewhere in the States and then got a flight from there, you'd find it cheaper. |

I've also tried to fly stand-by from Korea and was greeted by nothing but blank stares and "HUH?"s at every ticket window/information office or other place in the airport where one could possibly inquire about such a process. |

Before Air Canada changed the rules, employees could give stand-by tickets to family members and basically pay only the taxes. Now they have 'buddy passes', but the employee has to fly with the 'buddy')
When I first came to Korea, and for 3 years after that (until they changed the rules), I flew stand-by several times, cuz my Dad worked for Air Canada. Never had a problem, but then again, my Dad arranged everything for me beforehand, including mailing me the tickets... |
