That's utter and complete BS!! What a bunch of b%^$&#ds your school is ringing up the travel agent. I've heard some bad things in my time but this surely takes the cake. I'm glad that you handed in your resignation especially after what happened with your Diploma before in your previous thread. That really annoys me when hagwons do things like that to English teachers. You are better off away from that school.

I guess that one or two parents are complaining about you if they know that you are leaving. They only want a foreign teacher to teach them and that is understandable enough but EVERY student and parent is BS!! Of course because you are leaving the manager is obviously angry at you and trying to make you feel sorry for leaving. Most Korean bosses or managers try this trick but stick to your guns and ignore their comments.

Check your contract about you paying for recruiting a new teacher. I know with my first contract that if I left before 8 months that I would have to pay 1 million to the school for getting the new teacher so I had to hang out until then. I don't know if this is normal or not so just check your contract.

Also the funny thing is since all the students and parents complained about you, you should tell the manager next time, "why do you want me to stay if I'm such a bad teacher?!!" Very Happy

Good luck

Handed in your resignation, I'd have just said &^&* you and walked out the door. unless your staying for a particular reason or waiting for a letter of release or pay, I don't see what your hanging on for.

Nope.

The ULTIMATE invasion of privacy was the time I was banging my wife like a daiko drum and the goddam Chinese food delivery boy barged into our little officetel.

I definately would have quit too, and agree your timing was right. I think absurd punishments for quitting like having to pay a recruiter only encourage running.
