List the ones that you think are good. Leave out the ones that are bad. If you had a bad experience at one that is listed, then do feel free to give a contrary opinion. I would ask that we leave the bad ones out.
Remember, this is only "personal opinions" and one man's ceiling is another woman's floor. The point is to hopefully send people in a good direction for medical help.
I'll start.
Cha Hospital ~ Bundang (close to Yatap Station Yellow Line)
Excellent Lung specialist named Dr. Le Ji-yeoun. Highly recommended. She speaks very good English and is a teaching physician. On the cutting edge of Lung problems. Do be aware that the hospital itself isn't the best to stay in, but is adequate. NB. If one has a graduate Seminary (Cemetary?!) Degree, you can probably get a discount. Many Church founded hospitals have this in place.
Joo's Catholic University Clinic- Not too far from Hwarangdae Station Line #6
Dr. Joo is pretty good and speaks a bit of English. Very knowledgeable about stomach/ weight loss methods. A very kind Doctor that appreciates waygookin. The nurses are very kind. Can be busy on certain days.
Yonsei Clinic ENT (Ear/Nose/Throat) specialist Nearby (east of) Tareung Station Lines 6 & 7. Dr. Park (if I remember correctly). Very good Dr. Speaks decent English. Had him for an ear infection. Did great work.
Severance Hospital International Clinic. Very competent, speak great English and do quite well. The downside is it can be very expensive and you may at times feel somewhat rushed. Yet still, it's a good place to get a "solid diagnosis". Very trustable.
There are others that I heard of through the grapevine. PM me for more info on that. The above is only my personal exerience and it is only my opinion.

The International Clinic in Itaewon. Dr. Kim - very communicative, good bedside manner, excellent English skills, LISTENS to what you have to say. Modern, CLEAN clinic. Up to date on treatments and medications.
Doesn't recommend nutty things like - for a friend with a serious back problem: "drink red wine, play golf, and GET MARRIED" from a doctor at a hospital in Chung ju. |

Samsung Seoul Medical Center - International Health Services
A 10 minute walk from Irwon station on the orange line. I think I'd put it in the same category as Severance, only for people who live south of the river. The official language of the International Clinic is English, and everybody who works there speaks it very well. The women at the reception desk who do the scheduling are all RNs. In my case, I called in the morning and saw a doctor later that day. The doctor I had spoke decent English and regularly went to the U.S. for medical conferences. Best of all, they don't load you up with "mystery prescriptions" (they're all in English too) or give you weird injections. They have a team of volunteers -- friendly 50-something ajeomas -- who walk you around the bustling hospital to find your examination room, to get blood tests, and so on.
However, It is expensive if you don't have the Korean national health insurance. I don't, and I paid W30,000 to see a doctor. Still, that's only 1/3 as expensive as an uninsured visit to the doctor in America so I can't complain. With the Korean health insurance I imagine it would be in the W5000-10000 range.
Here's their website. |

In Daejeon, the Eulji University Hopital Dental Clinic on the third floor.
I went there with my husband last week - the dentist we saw did some of his training in the US and he spoke fluent English. His name is Professor Shin. |

edited because even though it's true, it's quite damaging to the doc's reputation.

Simone,
Sorry to hear you had such bad luck with Dr. Kim. In fact, good to know. My experience - and that of several friends - was quite good.
I'll keep an eye on the 'ol nutter . . . |

Ooohhh... Simone.. that sucks! Sorry that you and your husband were fucked by a stupid *beep*.
I also had H. Pylori a couple of years back but no one could found out what was wrong. I was constantly coughing and was itching like mad. In the end, Dr. Linton at the Severance Hospital IC took care of it and I was good as new but not until 9 months after it started! All the shitty Korean doctors told me I had bronchitis!!! |
