You might be disappointed to learn that xmas & new years fall on sundays this year. Some hagwons might close for the week between but for most I'd guess it'll be business as usual.

If you are not working on Christmas Eve Day you will be a rarity (except when it's on the weekend.)

That pales in comparison to the fact that we only get one day off for Chusok this year. *beep* *beep*

You mean Foundation Day on October 3rd right? Yeah, I noticed that too. Glad I work for a public\private school with guarenteed holidays every couple of weeks.

Plus, we're losing Tree Day next year and they are talking about doing away with one or two other holidays. Koreans aren't taking this switch to a 5 day work week too well.

They both fall on the weekend, Xmas and New Years so thats no biggie, but I think with all the emphasis they place on their culture while we're here they should have a little respect for ours and give us time off.

Are you saying that you want all Korean holidays off AND all of your country's holidays off? That sounds pretty selfish, if that is what you mean. It would make the schedule pretty chaotic having different teachers taking off different days because it's a holiday back home.

The total number of national holidays is about the same in all industrial countries.

I agree. I would be pretty annoyed if Koreans demanded to have their public holidays off work back home.

We are in their country now...
