Saw The Island today. Nice. I saw War of the Worlds last week and wasn't too concerned with seeing the credits but I knew I would like The Island so I made sure to talk to the manager on the 1st floor before the movie started to tell the person running the projector to show all the movie, right to the end. Okay he said, and he made the call.
But! The credits rolled, I was watching them (one Korean person worked in the movie too), and about a minute before the end, screeerrrnch. Stop. Silence.
Evil or Very Mad
To make a story short, fifteen minutes later I was on the 1st floor again with the three managers of the movie theatre about what was going on. Turns out they have a 20-minute gap between movies and due to the main office of the chain (Cinecity) selling out advertising that they simply must show (like that gay Dokdo ad that I've seen three times now) there isn't quite enough time and the movie came edited that way, and apparently it's on an automatic repetition so once the movie stops there's no way to get them to start it again. We spent at least ten minutes talking about it and it looked like they had no choice in the matter. They were quite nice of course, but I didn't get to see all the credits.
They did say that all theatres in Korea were like that, but it's not true - I know that at least Cinema 7 in Sanbon shows movies all the way to the end. Sanbon Cinema is the worst and they don't show you anything; once the movie's over it's time to shut things down.

So, I was thinking it would be a good idea to pool our knowledge on the wiki, and I made a new page for movie theatres. If you want to make a new page just edit this one with the name of the theatres you want to write about [[inside double brackets like this]] and then use the info below to flesh out the page, and add whatever you like.

http://korea.wikicities.com/wiki/Movie_theatres

Like this:

--Back to [[Movie theatres]]--

==General location==

==How to get there==

==General impression, screen size, number of people, etc.==

==Price==

==Closing credits==

And don't you just hate it when the credits are rolling, the music's awesome, and it stops?

Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

(in a good mood from the movie itself though)

Who has time for credits when life is all bali bali? You've seen the film. Now get up and go do your next thing...advertising or whatever.

I've never heard of this Wikicities thing before, but it seems damn cool, and this Korean theatre page is a great idea. While I'm here, I definitely want to take in a variety of the city's theatres. I'll add some new locations in time, but for now I've got a suggestion to anyone else who wants to update the page: if there're any web links where you can see the theatre's listings, include them.

And the link given above isn't quite right. It brought me to a 404. You need to have /wiki/ in there: http://korea.wikicities.com/wiki/Movie_theatres

dude, i can't believe you would actually go to the manager with a request like that. just get on the official "island" web site and you can get all the info you want. in korea you have to choose your battles and seeing the credits roll at the end of a flick isn't one of them. btw, how was the island? i'm thinking of seeing it.

Yeah, but credits are awesome when the movie's just ended and everything's all spooky, they start to roll and you watch them for a while, then the first song ends and the second one comes in usually better than the first. ^-^ It's the break of the flow that I can't stand. Like turning off a song 20 seconds before it ends.
They were nice managers too. They showed me the advertising schedule and it was packed. I can't believe they sold that much advertising. Shouldn't that be illegal, selling enough advertising that you have to cut out a few minutes off the end?

Oh, and The Island gives you a similar feeling to what you feel after watching Gattaca. If you liked that then you'll like this.

It did me no good. Very Happy

Well, it's good to know that Muslims aren't the only martyrs out there.

yeah I never got that about korea either.. why they stop the credits!
all the hard work from the people who put the film together dont get any credit.. ohh well..

I just saw war of the worlds and the island back to back tonight and I prefer to see movies in quit theaters so I watched from 11:30-4:am
and it was cool.,,

the island was a better film.. but the special effects in Wars was much better.. but they are both dreamworks pictures but some of the scenes in worlds was wicked.. but then again the ISLAND is WICKED!!!
micheal bay is a kick ass action director! man the island just doesnt stop!
its full on action from go! great movie..
war of the worlds.. well it was good. but it seems the ending was not thought through enough. seemed like OK lets wrap this movie up now!
ive got S**t to do.. mission impossible 3 is waiting!
just kinda stopped!
great concept.. but the characters and story just wasnt enough to drive the film! tom cruise is not enough to drive a film alone! he always works with great actors.. and in this film TIM ROBBINS was not in it long enough and that whole scene was just like.. WHY??? anyway good movie..
but could have been much better..
the island.. great movie, with alot of brand advertising throughout the movie!

My girlfriend works for a cosmetics company. She sometimes gets free promotional tickets to movies, so we go. But as part of the deal, she has to arrive early and write down EVERY commercial on the list. There's like 28 commercials, if memory serves. Maybe it's more. It's a lot.

Either way, I'm sure some international motion picture affiliation would raise cain if they knew Korea wasn't showing the credits.

Megabox in COEX will show all the credits.

Back home I worked at a a movie theater as a projectionist and learned that if they don't show the ending credits the print number is not shown and anyone in the know can claim to have not seen the "whole" movie and rightfully ask for their money back.

The Island struck me as being a lot like Logan's Run Meets The Village. Where as Logan's Run was about the '70s concern with over population, The Island is about 00's concern with medical ethics.

I love seeing Boramir in films.

CREDITS ARE AWESOME!! Rolling Eyes geez.. these posts are gettin more hilarious and pathetic everyday!

i didnt know people actually read those? why would u sit thru 3 minutes of names? it's not as if you'll remember anyone except for the actors and producers names anyway. i didn't know that getting to know who the "caterers and lighting crew " were important!

geezz... if u want comedy, come to dave's!!!

I thought the Island sucked big fat donkey dick. The story was really good, but the action was just plain stupid. It was like in Mission Impossible 2 when the street Jap bike all of a sudden has moto cross tires on it.

Action really pissed me off in this movie.

I am surprised the movie studios allow them to get away not showing the credits.

The CGV in Suwon Station showed all the credits for Batman Begins. I don't know if they do it for every movie, but if they did it once I assume they'll do it every time.
