I left SK nearly six weeks ago and for personal reasons I am just getting to sort out my money, I researched the area prior to leaving KEB Easy One account and also transfer account (linked to my home country account). I tried to set up internet banking but had a computer that could well have been an antique, and this, along with the ineptness of the customer service staff meant that I never did set up internet banking.

I've come home now and I know I have money in my bank account. I spoke to KEB and they said that as I don't have the secret number card, my only option is to withdraw the money from a cash machine which I've done. However, it would only allow me to withdraw 780 000 won although the call centre said the limit was 1 mil per time, 6 mil per day.

I went back the following day and tried again and this time it said there is "insufficient funds" in the account so last night I telephoned KEB who said that my balance was untouched, the money had been withdrawn from the cash advance and that has now been maximised. In this country, there is on option to select cash advance / cash from balance. I spoke at length with the staff at the KEB to see if we could find a solution such as either a) increase the cash advance (and allow it to be paid off from the account) or b) block the cash advance function and force the card to withdraw from the account. Or c) alternatively transfer the balance to my linked transfer account. The staff can't / won't do any of them. Each person I speak to at KEB / card services fobs me off saying "You must speak to X, and do this" etc. Please help me, I cannot be the only person this has happened too!

Please don't tell me what I should have done! I know! This money was deposited (severance etc) AFTER I left SK and they never said that I couldn't use telephone banking to transfer the money to my transfer account.

I don't know what to do!

Without having all of your personal identification documents, it is not likely you will get anyone to help you on this end. You will have to try and speak with someone at KEB, who can help you through this. Setting up the online banking outside of Korea is possible, but I am curious as to why it didn't work for you. I have never done it personally, but have friends who were successful in setting up their accounts from outside the country. I will ask some questions, and if I get any good information, bring it back to you here. Other than that, sorry for your loss. Crying or Very sad

Exactly what personal identification documents would I need? I have the card in question, the books relating to the accounts etc not to mention a passport etc.

The internet banking didn't work for me as the staff were rude and unwilling to assist in setting it up on my computer, I battled with them / the computer for 5 nights over a period of three weeks. I was sent round in circles with plug-ins / downloads etc and the call centre were clueless in assisting me.

KEB say they can't set up internet banking now as I don't have that secret number card and no longer have a mobile phone linked to the account. Each person fobs me off elsewhere claiming that they can't do what would be an extremely basic task in any UK bank.

Thank you for any assistance.

OP, I think the previous poster meant that unless a contact here in SK had your personal docs they couldn't help you by going to the bank this end.

What kind of card are you using? Debit? I didn't understand the cash advance bit of the story.

Is there anyone here you would trust - someone you could send your card to and they could withdraw and get to you somehow?

I do feel for you, and there must be a solution.
