There's a new computer game coming soon to a PC bang near you. Soon as in it's already in beta. It's called War Rock and gameplay resembles the "battlefield 1942" series in a modern day CS setting. I think its really cool. It comes from Nexon, the people who make Cart Rider. Go to the Cart Rider page, click "game" (ga-im) in the top menu bar, and click the soldier's face link in mid-page. The login is your same Cart Rider ID. I like it a lot. As I understand, they will use the same business model, that is, you can buy some better weapons using experience points, or using real cash, to make your game experience more fun.
This is a really brilliant invention of the Koreans and I'm surprised you don't see it more in the US. Free games but you buy the cool car / gun / avatar for a couple bucks. I'll bet it adds up.
PS: I'm hooked. |

Sounds similar to what Hangame does with go-stop- you're given a certain amount of free 'money' and a certain time limit (a couple of hours per day? not sure) and if you want more time or lose all your money you can purchase more. Sounds great except that if you believe gambling addiction is a disease then they're no better than crack dealers really... |

No, it's not a gambling game. The business model is, the game is free but you can pay a couple bucks to get the cool car, or license plate, or avatar, or gun, or uniform, whatever. I realized they probably invented this because nobody really pays for the games in a PC-bang culture... this way the game companies still have a good way to earn income. |
