I sometimes get nostalgic too about old games....I load them up and realize why I don't play them anymore....I played them too thoroughly the first time.
Then again, Diablow is more open-ended, right? |

depends on your interest in the game.
if your only goal is finish the quest, then yes it could get dull. i rather enjoy the duelling expect and the item hunt (hoarding). Quit because of the lag and the hacked items, but i hear most of that has changed somewhat. |

Unless they have firmwared the maphack to be allowed again on battle.net, you won't see me playing that game again. I just couldn't be bothered spending the hours and hours that are required to walk around those huge levels without being able to see where you are going.
The people that play on battle.net are all greedy little 17 years who won't trade or give away any of their items so, it kinda makes the game more difficult and less enjoyable to players like me who aren't willing to put a pro-gamers effort into playing Diablo II. |

I agree. Much easier if you play with a few people you know to quest and trade items etc.... No Maphack will definately be a pain. |

Try Guild Wars instead,
Its a MMORPG (sorta) with a minor questing element, but your completed on that bit in about 20hours.
The real fun comes in with the pvp aspect of the game, you can choose 2of 5 classes but only 8 skills from the 2 choices (approx. 150). So you may be a uber hard monk offensively, and everyone would expect u to be a healer so you could surprise them...
I enjoy it a lot, its a lot more "instant" than other MMORPGs (to the point that its not really an rpg anymore!). Finally, it looks pretty but will play on a p800! So i run it on my laptop pretty smoothly.
My only gripe is that the skill of some players are beyond belief, but i guess practice would help :S
