Is anyone else aware that from August 10 you can't get a one-day visa in Osaka anymore? I got my visa on July 8th and was told by the lady handing out visas that the one-day run is soon to end. She gave me a slip of paper that said we were to tell our employers that the visa process will take 2 days from August 10. Just thought that this would be good info for everyone to know! |

Can anyone else confirm if this is true? My new co-worker will be off on a visa run to Osaka in the not too distant future. |

Here's some information for those of you planning to go on a visa run in the near future.
I was on a visa run over the weekend and discovered two important pieces of information. First, there was a notice posted at the consulate by the visas window stating that:
As of August 8th, 2005, the Osaka Korean Consulate will no longer be able to do visas in one day. The system will change to two days.
Another thing that I learned is that Mondays are a bad time to go on a visa run. Japan has a random holiday (the one on Monday the 18th was called "Sea Day") one Monday every month. I don't know the exact schedule, but it's something to keep in mind.
Also, for the vets, the consulate is now located upstairs, instead of down those little steps to the left. They're using a numbering system now, as opposed to lining up, and it's not very effective. Be sure to take charge, and also be sure to take a number again when you come in later to pick up your visa. |

This is ridiculous, why the hell would it take two days to put a stamp on your passport. Jeez!
Its just as stupid as having to leave the country to change your visa status. |

I just mentioned in another Osaka visa thread: a friend of mine went on the 19th, and got it all done in 1 day.
So no idea about the circumstances. Maybe he had all the pre-work done in his home country? Anyway, he was in & out in the Logan's Visa Run.
Will try to confirm everything from him in a day or 2; I'm going to Osaka on Fri, and staying through the weekend, but have NOT planned for a Monday return . . .
Regards,
G. |
