..who would it be? Dead or alive.
I'll start it off with The King, Elvis Presley. What about everyone else? |

I wouldn't be able choose just one band so it would have to be a festival. Probably whichever edgefest Billy Joe set Green Day's drums on fire at. |

I did the bleach era Nirvana thing in NZ. Not many people knew who they were. It was WILD and VERY LOUD.
For me...I would've liked to see The Doors (Not this Asbury sadness either). |

I'd have to go with a multi-act festival 'concert' like Isle of Wight or Knebworth or Werchter or something. |

I live in the moment. Ain't gonna live in the past.
A toss up between the Moody Blues & Leonard Cohen. |

Us jazz fans have a special yearning, since our greatest artists' styles are essentially improvisational, so, without recording equipment around, several supposedly incredible events went unrecorded except by word of mouth. If I had to pick just one...
There was a night in 1943 in one of New York's small after hours clubs, when bebop as an art form blossomed in an unrecorded (!) frenzy of improv by Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker, with pianist Thelonious Monk, Max Roach dropping bombs on drums, and joined by 19-year-old vocalist Sarah Vaughn, with a young Miles Davis coming out of the audience to surprisingly join them for the first and last time all together.
The true birth of the cool.
I would gladly knock ten years off of my lifespan to go back and experience that long night, as long as I can re-live it a few times. |
