Does anyone else have severe reservations about this kind of thing? I think it's terrible. Bush likes to categorize people he doesn't like as evil. I think that only a very very evil group is capable of this knid of thing. The United States' human rights record is already dismal (read: I'm not saying other countries/groups are necessarily any better, but they are not the ones making this weapon), but this kind of thing is just another violation of human rights. I guess our current methods of torturing people aren't good enough. |

Yeah, the giant microwave ray gun to "less lethally" control crowds.
hey were talking about it yesterday on tv. Apparently during testing 'rioters' were told to take out contacts, take off glasses, and remove anything metal before the test commenced.

Maybe a combination of ray gun and water cannon is needed... possibly some tear gas and rubber bullets too.
So then instead of shock and awe you end up with shake n bake. |

I wonder if they will rent it out. I can think of an anarchist or two I'd like to try it out on. |

what is wrong with it?
The US can stop crowds w/o using bullets.
I am glad the US came up with it.
This way the US doesn't get charged with civilian deaths.
Will make it a lot harder for terrorists to hide behind civilans , nor will they be able to use deaths of civilans against the US.
This way the US doesn't get charged with civilian deaths.
This will deprive the otherside of one of its most effective weapons - civilian deaths.
The US needs a lot more of these things. |

IF it works in the field as they hope it does, then yes. But I think what the article is pointing out is that it's still a big IF. But you're right, less death is a good thing, and hopefully this will work out. If they can get it to work it'd be a lot better than- for example- rubber bullets, or even sheilds and batons.
They should field test those things in the ROK! |

Yes, it's better than them testing a MORE lethal weapon. |

Please Santa. I've been so good this year! "All I want for Christmas is a crowd control ray..." |
