I thought someone out there might be interested in knowing how to set up their own site for selling things on the net. I think people would be surprised at how easy (and cheap) it has become to do such a thing. It should only take a couple of hours and around $60 US. You'll need

* a digital camera
* a credit card
* a computer with the internet
* some time ... maybe about 8hrs over 3 days

1) Find something you think will sell on the web. Trying to sell your product on ebay would be a good start. From there you can gauge demand and post & packages costs etc... Things that would immediately come to mind would be buddist paraphenalia, Korean face masks, soju etc...
EDIT: Theres an ebay pdf document on international selling that you may also want to check out at this stage http://pages.ebay.com/globaltrade/SellingToolkit.pdf
EDIT: Theres also a cool UPS site that will give you time and cost of expediting a package anywhere in the world eg. Seoul Sheaton to NY Sheraton in <24hrs for a 1kg package worth 50,000won would cost around 70,000 won
2) If your ebay test goes well, or you just want to steam ahead anyway, then the first thing you should do is get yourself a website name. I'll use godaddy here because they are a large and well know webhosting company and also because they are cheap, but you can use any company you wish
https://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/registrar/search.asp?se=%2B&ci=414.
A '.com' name should only cost you 15$, unless someone else has it and wants to
sell it to you for an inflated cost. In this case try to find some other similar sounding name. EDIT: I'd recommend going for a name that contains your products 'keyword'. I'll come back to this later on, for example if you want ot sell korean face masks (or whatever!), try to go for something with korean face masks in the title ... www.koreanfacemasks.com, www.korean-face-masks.com www.facemasksfromkorea.com etc... Pay for your name with a credit card.
3) Now choose a hosting plan https://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/hosting/landing.asp?se=%2B&ci=415
the basic 3.95$ a month one should do fine here.
4) Download an ftp program, this is a piece of software that can talk to godaddy's computers.
Best one is at http://www.download.com/FileZilla/3000-2160_4-10383825.html
download and install filezilla and connect to godaddy using simple instructions and passwords provided by your webhost.
5) Download and install a WhatYouSeeIsWhatYouGet html editor. Best one is at http://www.download.com/3000-2048-10225092.html.
You can get a 15/30 day trial at the start. This should be loads of time for you to design your site. Take a tutorial, get used to html script.
If you feel like your getting advanced, then check out some resources like www.htmlgoodies.com, or www.w3schools.com or www.webmonkey.com
5) Take some pictures of your products with a digital camera, you'll need to upload these to your site, again, look to ebay to see what kind of pics/backgrounds work best with your product.
6) Download an open source ecommerce template, use this as the basis of your website. Try the free one at www.oscommerce.com.
Open the pages in dreamweaver, maybe change the colors or design slightly, add a logo then upload to your web host using filezilla.
7) Open a paypal account http://www.dummies.com/WileyCDA/DummiesArticle/id-2976.html . Now add paypal to your website
https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_wp-standard-ref-impl3
8 ) Now you have your site up and working, it's time to let people know it's out there. You might think about using google ads ... let google put your site advertisement on various pages on the web, and then you pay them a small fee for every user that clicks through to your site
https://adwords.google.com/select/?hl=en_US&sourceid=awo&subid=WW-ET-adsenseland&clickid=en_US .Remember to emotionally blackmail your nearest and dearest into buying things at your site by complaining loudly that you're not getting any business. Email anyone you think would like to know about your site, just don't spam anyone. Post on this thread and let everyone know what you sell.

Post back here with any questions ... Surprised

Remember you're gonna be paying lots of interesting duties on your goods when u import them. Also u need to think about demand, marketing etc. etc.

... I presume you mean when you export them there blunder. This is a good point though, that is why I'd recommend a test run on ebay first, just to see if everything runs smoothly.

... also remember, that items are marked as gifts (birthday presents, wedding gifts) aren't subject to import duties by most nations. This means that if your customer asks you to label them as gifts, then they won't have to pay duties.

... You can remind your customer of this fact when you are informing him/her of the duties they may have to pay. If they then claim that it's a birthday gift (which technically by the way, is mail fraud), then it's on their heads and not yours.

... I've also added a link at paragraph one of the OP - to an ebay guide on how to sell goods internationally. It's worth a read as well if anyone is interested.
