I live in Gangseo-gu (Gonghang-dong). Does anyone know where the local pension office is? Also, I did a search here, and someone said they brought in their passport, etc. and a pension paper (?). What's this? Is this a form I fill-out while I'm there? The money gets deposited into your Korean bank account, right? I've been here 4 years, but my first school was shady, and they didn't make the contributions. How much do you guys think I'll be getting? Someone said it's about 2 mil/year. I'm American, btw. Thanks for your help!! Oh- one more thing! Do I need a letter from my employer? What does the letter say? Is it a statement that I'm leaving Korea for good?

I can help you with a couple of your questions.

I'm not sure what the "pension paper" is. Ask your boss to call the office and ask exactly what is required. I thought you had to bring your ARC, passport, and a plane ticket and fill out the main form in the office(lots of pages). Maybe it's your workplace's record and/or a statement that you've fulfilled all contractual obligations?

Here's the main page:

Locations page:

Gang-seo:

http://www.npc.or.kr/eng/enpc.html?code=./enpc/b02.html#14

Gangseo Regional Office
Zip Code : 157-033
Address : 2nd Floor, Yeonggwang Bldg.(), 680-5 Deungchon 3-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul
Phone No. : 02)3660-0160
Fax No. : 02) 3662-89145, 3665-9830
How to get there : Get off at Balsan Station of Subway Line 5 and take Exit No. 3. Walk straight about 300 meters. The building is on the right side.

The place where the money is deposited is your choice. If you are going back to America, give them your bank details there(acct number, branch number, transit number, address, and the like - a cheque is good if you have one). They'll tell you how long it will take to be deposited. I think you need proof, like an actual bankbook or statement from the bank.

How much you'll be getting depends on the place(s) you worked for the other three years. If they all had you registered and you were making about 2mil at each place, then you should be getting about 6mil. They should also be able to give you a print-out of that info while you're there.

Well dont expect any return from the time you spent with the non-contributing school but otherwise, yeh, 2 mil a year is a fair rough estimate. No letters required, just the ticket out.
