this one is pretty much self explanatory ... which universities are the best for teachers. With the usual parameters ... accomodation, money, hours worked, time-off, campus setting etc ...
any thoughts ? |

probably the ones you'll never hear about job openings from....
that's a given as they have very low turnover because of this and can rely on current teacher referrals
To answer your question somewhat mine is pretty good! DKU-C |

Ewha Tops University Performance Ranking
Ewha Womans University has ranked first in an evaluation of the performance of major institutions of higher learning in Korea carried out by the Korean Council for University Education (KCUE).
Ewha scored 97.75 points out of 100, followed by Hanyang University's Seoul campus with 96.76 and Hanyang University's Ansan campus with 95.6. Inha University ranked fourth with 95 followed by Seoul Women's University with 93.92.
The Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development on Monday released the KCUE report, which was based on inspections last November.
In mechanical engineering, Korea University was ranked first among 81 universities, followed by Hanyang University's Ansan campus, Chungnam National University, Korea University of Technology and Education and Yeungnam University. In biology and biotechnology, Pohang University of Science and Technology and Ewha Womans University were at the top among 75 universities.

cool RR, but I was thinking more along the lines of 'best universities to teach in' as opposed to being taught in ...
if the best universities don't advertise, then I guess the only way to hear about them is through the forums ... or a teacher referral of course.
... so if anyone knows the really good ones ... SHARING IS CARING ! |

Korea University, about 3 million a month, 4 months vacation.
You need a Masters Degree. |

To get a job at the best universities, you almost NEED a contact. It's not impossible without one (right Beav?), but it REALLY helps.
The so-so and crappy university jobs are the stepping stones to get that good university gig.
3+million, 12-20 hours/week with 4-5 months vacation are not unrealistic for an experienced teacher. |

It's all about retention. How many teachers stay for more than one year? By the looks of RR's post, the study ONLY looked at national unis. Where teaching ENGLISH is concerned, it's a whole different ballgame. My uni is great (PM me and I'll tell you what it is!) and we have around a 90% retention rate. Almost all teachers sign on for another year...or two or....8!!! Sure, we lose one or two (out of 14) per semester...but those that leave have usually been here more than a year and move on to "greener" or "home" pastures. |
