So do you gamble? If so, where and how often?

2 years ago I lost a becker at Walker Hill, and promised the S.O. to never set foot in the place again. I've kept my promise, although technically I could go to another bricks and mortar place Twisted Evil I've kept my addiction to playing with friends and online gambling; unfortunately, my international MC from Samsung no longer will deal with gambling sites after one $100 dollar deposit and that whole mess that appeared in the news recently (THX RR, please post that link again here Cool )

So how's 'bout the rest of you. All holier than thous are welcome to contribute.

Gambling as recreation is great, esp. poker and the other "live" games: blackjack, bac and minibac, roulette, dice, even pai gow tiles.

If you invest the time in learning basic strategy, money management, and cardcounting (the basic plus-minus system works fine), then it is no foolish endeavor...

Online gaming strikes me as pretty ridiculous, though. Nothing "James Bond" about that at all. Just a simple addiction being satisfied. Kind of like video poker addiction: you see these zombie-like people feeding coin after coin in the video poker machines, playing very rapidly, with dead expressions on their faces. That's not fun, man. It's something else.

It's true that you can't get the same sense of a player or use the same strategies online, but a good Texes Holdem game online can still yield some great results Wink

Maybe I'll try it then...got a link to a trustworthy site?

I seem to recall a lot of talk at MGM while I was there in getting into online gaming...they either got burned somehow or were forbidden by Gaming Control, I believe...

Party poker based in the US is considered one of the best sites on the web, although I had trouble with them over payment options seeing as I was using a Korean credit card.

Paradise poker has a better layout and better game options, but fewer players and it is based in Costa Rica.

That's too bad I didn't have this info sooner (provided of course there was room for another). I really miss my poker days from home. I'm leaving in a month Very Happy so hopefully the guys are still ready to welcome me back with open arms. I may be a little rusty, so I'm sure they'll have no qualms. We always like to 'teach' newcomers how to play poker. Wink

I can live with losing 50~100 on a bad night. I'm not into the bigger games. It becomes too businesslike and emotions can run a little high especially when you throw alcohol or other things into the mix.

I like to play blackjack at the casino. And I'm definitely up in that endeavour. I paid my student loans off faster when I hit a real streak back in 2001.

I'm down at the race track though the last three or four times I went. But that's real excitement. I love the race track.

Fast women and slow horses... the story of my life.
