i am in gimhae which is a new area near pusan (busan) and the hagwons are mushrooming here...i've met two foreigners...both of whom haven't responded to: let's have a drink...coffee... whatever...

one was aussie and the other english...

i am from canada...

it would be nice to have a coffee or a beer sometime...

jangyu is mostly a new city, that is true...

Your best bet is this...just up over the mountain and through a long tunnel is the city of Changwon, maybe 20 minutes away...there are many city buses everyday that connect Jangju and Changwon...look for the red buses, there at least 2 or 3 every hour and they cost 1400 won.

Just look for a bus stop and the buses should have numbers starting with 700(they just changed the numbers so i am not 100% sure)

In Changwon has a large foreigner population and a great foreigner bar called O'briens
http://www.obriens-bar.com/

It is across the road from International Hotel so when you get to Changwon just get off the bus, get into a taxi and say International Hotel and no more than a 5000 won taxi ride you are there...

Quite a few people from jangyu make the trip into the bar so you will meet some taxi buddies no doubt....see you there

wow.. i used to live in jangyu. i left after 3 months because it was so dull, although i must say the locals are lovely people. there are usually about 10 foreigners around; when i was there, about half of them were ok and sociable, and the other half were pretty strange.
the advice about changwon is definitely worth listening to; its a good place and if you want to meet foreigners (sounds like you do) there are plenty there.
