i'm a total idiot when it comes to LCDs or CRTs.
i need to buy a cheap 15/17 inch LCD, but i want to make sure that i don't go blind using some piece of junk. what are the minimum requirements for a decent screen?
at danawa, one of the cheapest 15 (174,000) has the following specs. (i don't know the english translation, but i'm sure someone will recognize what the figures are.)
ũ (ġ) -15.1ġ
г -LG-Philips
ȼ ġ -0.297mm
ִ ػ -1024 x 768
 -250cd/
Ϻ(contrast ratio)- 400 : 1
ð -12ms
Է -15 D-SUB
are these ok, or should i be looking for something with better specs in some area?
thanks,

Well if it's cheap that's what you'll be getting. It's not bad for internet surfing but it's nothing i'd use for gaming or video. You typically want a higher resolution than max 1024x768. |

You can get a new 19" LCD at Yongsan for around W400,000 I just got one the other day for a friend. If your budget allows get the larger screen. 1024x768 is a crappy resolution, thats why I suggest you go for a larger resolution. |

budget is minimal for the system i'm putting together. just for basic use. no gaming, just some tv show viewing at most.
thanks for the tips,

Well, for the price of a 15" LCD, one could get a new and decent 17" (or used 19") CRT capable of a higher res (though for your mom, she may like lower res anyways).
LCDs actually hurt my eyes, but I'm sure that's just me. |
