I guess the summer heat and the monotony of work is wearing me down. I got rather pissed off in a class. I was hot and feeling upset about a few things, including the kids. I took it out on one kid. It must be weird when someone flips out at you in a foreign language. I realize they don't really listen to me because of the language. And then when I feel ignored I get upset. Then they understand even less of what I say when I'm angry. Sometimes I just get annoyed hearing their language all day long, too.

You're human, congrats.

Yup hot days and kids not listening to you can stress you out big time.

I feel kind of lucky, my students have been pretty darn good and my classroom has aircon(which I control) and tomorrow is movie day Very Happy 3 more weeks to the day and I am outa here!

I knew this guy, he was always hungover at work, but he never lost his cool and was a teacher who knew how to maintain control.

Maybe try drinking before work?

Haha, that's minor. So's this. Our school hired a second foreign teacher, 45, female. Turns out she's divorced and hates men. Great. The Chinese English teacher has been married five years to a Korean man and, of course, now also hates men, especially with the ball-bustin' guidance of the new arrival. Who seems to have formed her identity from watching 'Sex in the City'. Today they were telling me I care 'only about myself' and 'am anti-social'. What kind of madness is this? I told them to STFU. I heard one can never understand the female mind, but this is ridiculous. I'm hearing 'Thelma and Louise'.

Also, the hagwon has given the new foreign teacher the elementary classes because she's female, and the parents want a female teacher. So what can the management do? The new foreign teacher doesn't like teaching elementary. But, being female, she's more qualified (has never taught or left Canada before) than I who have taught hagwon eight years now but, as luck would have it, am merely male. Not full of that non-perverted loving kindess that a female caregiver can provide. Gosh.

I cannot frickin belive this chit. Thank god I'm not married. Hopefully it's like the best of times and the worst of times. Bla bla bla, 'and I only like tall men and black men'. Thanks for sharing you friggin' thrill seeker on the face of god, you mindless bleating gnat upon the flame. Thrill yourself on the horns of a speeding truck. I wish they'd come to our hagwon, do drug tests, and pitch them out for harbouring too much estrogen it becomes testrogen, which is annoying and against the law.

And this is an example of why I love CK's posts.

Absolutely beautiful and hilarious, whatever it means.

Dude, you should write for a living.

My classroom's the size of a small bathroom and we've got an a/c unit...in fact...we've got them in our all classes. It's a first for sure...maybe I'm just hallucinating from all this heat and this is all some pleasant dream I'm having while my real body is roasting in the hellish dungeons of SLP or Ewha ELS. Sorry for you, my friend.
