We're considering taking the plunge and getting something better than a 125cc chinese-food delivery bike.

Haven't found anywhere where we can rent something larger, 125+ but not over 1000cc.

If anyone has a bike that they'd be willing to let the husband drive around for an afternoon to see if it's really up his alley, you can hang out in our living room and drink beer until he gets back (y'know, to ensure it's returned safely and all.)

We'd even be willing to discuss some kind of fee arrangement.

No hurry, as we're borrowing another friend's bike for a month, but when that is through, we're not sure if we should stick with 125 or move up...

PM me if you think we can talk...

Simone

Koreans don't rent bikes that large for cheap amounts of money, due to insurance.

Depending on the bike, you may not even GET insurance. I had a Yamaha R6 last year, and sold it. Part of the reason was because Korean insurance companies won't insure the superbikes you see on the road. Every one of those guys is driving one without anything but comp insurance (to pay the other guys damages). If you crash your bike, you pay 100% of your own costs to fix it!

Sometimes I see guys driving uninsured 12,000,000 won, 300kmh Hayabusas around -- that they can't even take on the highway due to local laws -- and just shake my head.

Besides, Koreans notoriously beat the hell out of their motorcycles, won't pay to fix them properly if they can find a proper mechanic, and then sell them when they are one day away from dying. So beware of used motorcycles.

Just a friendly side note -- the stores aren't going to let you test ride a bike for an afternoon, let alone 5 minutes! I tried. Back home, if you wanted to test ride my bike, you'd better be back within 10 minutes. You sure as heck wouldn't get it for an afternoon, unless I knew you VERY well.

You make bike-swapping sound like wife-swapping.

Hey, I don't want to sell my bike, but could I come over and just hang out & drink beer in your living room? Wink

Well, with the last bike we had, we almost thought of it as a threesome.

Gotta love the purr of the engine. Wink

But, um, yeah.... I'm still feeling like too much of a new bride to even imagine such things.... talk to me in a decade or so.
