firefox,
tab browsing, extensions, not bloated, more secure (though hackers are changing that and if enough people move to macs - safari users better watch out as well) |

| I can personalise it the way I want it to be. I really like that. Trouble with Microsoft is that the corporate image thing comes across so strong their products are hard to actually get away from them. Even when you buy them, you still feel like they own it. I like the fact that Firefox has been developed from the grass roots and is free. I really like that idea. |

I had to vote IE, at least until I get around to trying to apply the advice given to me to fix my firefox problems.
I haven't had time to look into it because North Korea has just invaded the South and I've got to locate a downed navy E6-B Prowler somewhere in Seoul which has sensitive data lifted from an NK ASM battery, and I've got to find it before advancing NKA units do.
It's all about priorities, you see.
P.S. Sorry about the thread hijack, but has anyone else been totally blown away by Splinter Cell?
I'm creeping past Hana bank signs in hangeul, sneaking up on soldiers chit-chatting in Korean with (what my wife tells me are) authentic North Korean accents.... and this from a game developed in Montreal.

Ah....[backs away from computer slowly]
I just found I was getting nailed by pop ups, browser hijackers, et al with IE. I know I could set up pop blockers, more adaware type stuff etc, but why bother when firefox does all of that for me. Also I have Korean Windows, therefore Korean IE which makes doing anything beyond cutting and pasting a bit of a chore. Firefox however is in Korean, and yeah I know, I can't fully appreciate cyworld without IE, but hey...thems the breaks.
(It does seem to be faster on my computer too which is a big benefit) |

Good point, and this is why I haven't been too arsed to fix FF- I know that theoretically IE is a dangerous piece of crap but in practice it has never given me any problems whatsoever. |

Actually, as long as IE is installed on your system, it is a hole that hackers can exploit, even if you aren't using it.
I would still run spyware checks if I were you. You might be suprised. |

Hmmm, I'm using Firefox now for the first time in a couple of months and everything seems to be fine- no more mixed up, misplaced, stretched out, or just plain unviewable icons/buttons/gifs. I don't think I upgraded or changed FF in any way since the last time I had problems using it.... 
Maybe the sites where I was having trouble have become more FF-friendly?
But I was having the most trouble HERE, and no one else did...
EDIT 5 MIN later:
Crap, the next page outside this forum that I go to after posting the above, and I have problems loading the graphics in FF; I fire up IE and the page loads perfectly and instantly.

| I mainly use Opera....sometimes Firefox since I can't access my gmail account with Opera. I like the password wand that Opera has so that I never have to type in any passwords anywhere. |

If you're not ready to give up yet, here's what to do:
1. Uninstall any and all versions of Firefox and Moz
2. remove any lingering files
3. get the latest FF release (1.06 i think) - not an RC
4. reinstall - preferably in a different directory
If that doesn't work, get open-sourcey and report it in bugzilla
ps - nice to see you're reading CBC.ca! trust me, it works in FF |
