Has anybody ever had anything stolen when staying at this motel? I stayed there for a few nights two weeks ago and had 100,000 won clipped from the top of the table or dresser drawer. My friend is a witness to the fact that the cash was on top of the dresser.

When I asked the Filipina in charge if one of the staff had a key to the room, she became hostile and berated me for not telling her of the missing cash at an earlier time. I pointed out that her staff does not speak English and she was not around the motel earlier to point out the incident, etc.

She blew off my request to check the C.C.T.V. tapes. So, I called her just a few minutes ago to check up again on the money. She was shrill all get out towards me. By the way, I asked her if the room in question - #121 - has a dresser drawer thinking that I may have forgotten to look inside it if there is in fact one in the room. She shrieked, "You stayed here!! Why are you asking me such a question!" I said that I could not remember, etc., and asked her to not take that tone of voice and poor attitude with somebody who was one of the motel's paying guests. She then yelled at me some more. I remarked: " Well, if you will not cooperate with me, then I'll have to go to the police to ask them to conduct an investigation." She then ytelled some more and hung up her phone.

No idea about things being stolen there (and very bad luck in your case)... But a friend of mine stayed there a night (as it was mentioned as being alright in the Lonely Planet) and said it was absolutely terrible. Everything about it sounded horrible - to the extent that I think he may written to the LP requesting them to withdraw it from the book! This was 2 months ago.

Not recommended!

Hi,

Yes, the Filipina's manner is quite unfriendly and the shower is a total joke. Staff were loud as heck at 7:00am each day I was there, too. For 45k per night, it leaves a lot to be desired.

The Hilltop Hotel on Hooker Hill costs 25 on weeknights and 30k on weekends. Better t.v. and showers, too.

Um, you left a hundred bucks on a dresser, or maybe in some drawer which may or may not exist. A friend swears its true. So on this evidence you expect the front desk to cough it up.

Of course the cleaners & front desk have a key. Hotels/motels all over the world (Korea no exception) advise patrons to check valuables with the front desk, & disclaim responsibility for losses.

Tough luck. Get over it. Keep it in your pocket next time.

I did not ask them to cough up anything: I asked them to check their C.C.T.V. tapes. That's all. Is that okay with you?

Ohhh... that place is a REAL hole, right? The bed is some kind of funky foam thing on the floor, and the rooms only have a fan. You can hear EVERYTHING going on in the rooms around you. SICK place... worse I've stayed at in Korea. The shower was a hose, and you had to dump a bucket of water down the toilet to flush it. Felt like I had bugs crawling on me all night. Was hot, sticky, and I couldn't sleep.

Stayed there with my first friend in Korea (a crazy mongolian named Nina) during World Cup times.... oh, those were the days!

I once took someone to the place on that street between Haebangchon and Hyatt Hotel. It's about halfway up that street, close to a family mart. For 30,000 a night, not so bad.

What could CC tapes conclude? I'd hope they're not of your room. If they have any all they would show is hallway activity.

The C.C.T.V. tapes would show me who entered the room. Then, I'd have my suspect(s). Dig it?

If it was recommended by the MIGHTY Lonely Planet, it must be great! You must surely have been wrong.

You must write a Self Confession.

Mother is Dear, Father is dear, but Dearest of all is Lonely Planet!

Where There is Suspicion There is Guilt!

To Deny the Great Leader is Tantamount to Denial of the Great Helmsman Himself.

I am told that there are those who have talked to the GREAT HELMSMAN only to discover that he taught a total of nine months illegaly In Japan at the end of the eighties!!!

Away with All Pests!!!!!

You left 100,000 in full view on top of the table and then went out?

Do you come from the same village as GWB?
