Ok, this seems like a wierd question to me, but I've been wondering. Do korean's not flush toilet paper?
there are always garbage cans stuffed to the brim with toilet paper, and I've even seen a sign in a public washroom asking not to flush the toilet paper!! What is that about?
seems a little gross to me if you wipe, then just put it in the garbage can... =/
oh yah, and who thought it was a good idea to put the toilet paper dispense on the OUTSIDE of the bathroom stalls!? sucks for you if you don't take enough!? |

Of course they don't flush toilet paper! Unlike your primitive wasteland of a country, Korea is highly advanced, so instead of flushing the toilet paper they recycle it. Everyone knows this. |

I don't want to wipe my arse and put the toilet paper in a basket where I can smell it three hours later, gross |

Toilet paper in the bucket.
Its bad enough when the buckets are changed daily. With summer vacation on the buckets havent been emptied in 2.5 weeks some areas are ummm shall we say aromatic |

In older buildings the plumbing cant handle the extra waste.... aprently. With the newer buildings it is ok, but it seems Koreans are used to binning it. I have a reasonably new apt (about 5-10 years?) and its fine but all my Korean visitors use the bin. |

Really??? I am glad I have a cleaner to clean then...
I haven't actually noticed that any of my Korean friends use the bin.. may be they don't use the bin at home themselves?
I think it's really gross to put toilet paper in the bin... especially those without covers. Can you imagine what it's like to have toilet paper with COLOURS on it... *puke*...

Korea's not the only place in the world this happens. In Greece most of the islands have pipes too narrow to handle toilet paper so it goes in the bin too. I reckon you're better off with a funky jazz than a blocked shhitter. |

common throughout most of southeast asia as well.. they are required to put up massive signs for 'westerners' in particular NOT to plug up their plumbing with all our toilet paper!

It always amkes me laugh (?) at the airport when you see the signs in the ladies toilets that clearly say you are to FLUSH the paper, but yet the bins are still overflowing with TP. Methinks it's such a habit for Koreans that they can't get past it. |

Yeah, and when we westerners back up their plumbing because can't read or are just too delicate to use the bin, they probably think we are pretty slow learners, too. |

Our landlord said that there's a 600,000 won fine if we clog up the drains with TP, but I figure there's no way he can pin it on one person, so I flush it like a poker hand, baby!
