I was passing through Narita airport last night on my way home to the Land of the Morning Calm when I witnessed a most amusing spectacle.
As I was approaching the KoreanAir gate (God, I hate flying KA), I heard what sounded like hoots and hollers of "Dokdo!" Sure enough, there stood a group of 7 or 8 Korean ajummas and ajosshis, decked out in their tradional garb of black hiking/track suits, backpacks with tin cups and bottled water, welding masks for the ladies and all wearing safari hats, standing in a circle holding hands chanting;
"Dokdo, uri ddang.....PIGHTING!!!"
over and over and over (well, maybe 3 or 4 times) and man was it ridiculous, but talk about taking it into the belly of the beast....either they had balls or were 3 sheets to the wind on soju (God forbid they drink saki)
I guess they had such a good time in Japan they had to remind themselves that they, and they only, still belonged to that superior race known as Korean |

Y'know, I can picture them almost perfectly in my mind's eye anyway...
Give em 10/10 for balls, 5/10 for common sense and 0/10 for tact. |

So what happened? Aviation law dictates that if you're drunk, you can't board the plane. If they were causing a disturbance, security should have been called. How long did that keep that up for? I bet the Japanese were really impressed with that behavior. I guess the chanters have never heard the phrase "When in Rome..." I wonder if they actually accomplished anything besides being a source of noise pollution and an irritation to their fellow passengers. Amazingly selfish, really, and just plain disrespectful. |

Went to the post office and saw the new Dokdo stamps, theres nothing on the bloody rock!
One of my adult students went on a boat ride to the famed island, I asked her why do you want to go see a rock, pay good money just to see a rock, as you could guess all I got was a stare |

As much as I wish it did belong to the Japanese...it does belong to korea. That issue was settled long ago and was also settled when the war ended and the dividing line was set up by the U.N. calling for Dokdo, and others belonging to korea.
Koreans are like cry babies over almost anything it seems. But...koreans sure want the Japanese spending the Yen in korea don't they! Two faced. |

You should have told an airport employee that you suspected they were terrorists planning to highjack the plane. "Look, they were shouting something about Dokdo is our land. They said "fighting", I swear. Can't you see it, they are obviously dressed in some kind of paramilitary garb." |
