Hi all,
So, i've been out of the ESL game for almost two years and was wondering if anyone get give me a general overview of what's hot and what's not in the field.
When i left, Korea and Taiwan were hiring in droves. Has anywhere else emerged as a significant option for your average esl teacher? My hopes are to secure a one-year contract where i can save money to attend teacher's college in Canada next September. I was in Korea before and enjoyed myself and while i would certainly consider going back there, it would be nice if i could mix it up a little, and try somewhere else.
This is just a general probe for me. Clearly, I intend on replying to specific ads posted in the other section, but i'd just like to get a general sense of what's going on in the esl milieu these days.
Thanks very much for your attention,
T. |

| Welcome back. I have you checked out the China Job Forum? It's new since you've been gone. |

Hi Bulsajo! Well, from what i can recall, the China job opportunities were somewhat lacking in the monetary sense. I'd love to work in China but i'm also attempting to save some money over the next year. Nonetheless, i'll check out the China forum. Thanks.

Maybe this has already been convered in a different forum, but the idea of working in China sort of...I don't know, turns me off. Maybe it's just because I'm American and have had 5 decades of "Commies are bad" built in to my genetic make-up, but I'd be very nervous about working there. From what I understand America's relationship with China is barely civil, so are Americans well recieved there? And if one was working there, American, and things between the two countries went south in a big way, what could one expect? China is not exactly leading the pack when it comes to civil rights.
Or should I just pose this question on the new chinese forum?
