So I've got this "free talking" class, and I'd like to find something fun to do with them for some of the class time. I'm thinking Mad Libs or some kind of puzzle like that would be great, but I haven't had much luck finding books of that sort or things on the Internet that I can print off that are at an appropriate level. (The lowest level student spells cat with a k and the best is reading Harry Potter in English and the rest are somewhere in between...) So I was wondering if anyone has any good leads on resources for this, or anything else fun that I can do with them to make the class more interesting. I'm not having too much trouble finding reasonable speaking textbooks, but if anyone has any brilliant suggestions there I'd be happy to hear those as well.

thanks...

How old are they and how big is the group? Scrabble's always fun in a small group. The 'Upwords' varient works well.

It's a real challenge dealing with students of such varying abilities, however. What I found was that one usually emerges as spokesperson, and it's a challenge to get the others talking.

ahh, sorry, good point. They're about nine years old and the size of the group varies depending on who shows up, but there are usually at least three, and a maximum of seven right now (but I usually get about zero seconds' advance notice of new additions, so this is quite likely to change...)

Take them out to a HOF and talk about beer and snacks. Everybody likes to talk about beer and snacks.
